Chapter 80 The Ancient Formula Test
Caleb grovelled several time and even dragged Artemisia down with him.
“M-Mr. Norwood, it was all my fault! I’m sorry! Please just take your anger out on me, not my father!” Artemisia cried out.
The two of them scrambled to take the blame, which took Evan by surprise. Ivana had been spot on by saying that the Stones would come all the way here to apologize.
“There’s no need for that. I’m not upset,” Evan said with a smile, motioning for them to leave.
Artemisia blinked in disbelief. She had expected Evan to make a bigger deal out of it.
Meanwhile, Caleb was panicking.
Although it might have looked as if it was water under the bridge, this wasn’t the outcome he wanted. Evan wasn’t mad at them despite their grievous mistake. Caleb became anxious as he desperately wanted Artemisia to be Evan’s apprentice.
So, he started slapping himself.
Artemisia’s face went pale. “Dad! What are you doing? He already forgave us! Why are you hitting yourself?”
“Shut up!” Caleb shot her a glare before turning to Evan with all the sincerity he could muster. “Mr. Norwood, this isn’t just about you showing up to one of the events I’ve hosted. I also desire a chance to discuss medicine with you.
“Aside from that, I, too, hope that you’ll give my daughter a chance to become your apprentice. Of course, this is just a selfish request of mine. However, if you require proof of sincerity, then I’ll keep slapping myself until you see how sincere I am!”
Evan and Artemisia both stiffened upon hearing his declaration.
Artemisia finally realized that Caleb still wanted her to apprentice under Evan.
Evan frowned. Why was the Best Doctor in Silverton, Caleb Stone, reduced to playing these ridiculous games?
“Dad, what are you doing? This is embarrassing!” Artemisia felt like she might explode out of sheer frustration upon seeing Caleb’s ridiculous behavior.
She glared at Evan. Then, she shakily rose to her feet and pointed at him. “You know what? Fine. Dad, allow me to make this
clear. I’ll never apprentice under him unless he can reconstruct the ancient formula!”
“Ancient formula? What ancient formula?” Evan had been growing impatient with Caleb and Artemisia, but those words promptly caught his attention.
He had been in seclusion, studying medicine, learning methods to restore ancient formulas, and could even create them himself. However, he hadn’t put them into practice yet.
On the other hand, Artemisia naturally assumed that Evan knew nothing about ancient formulas. Not even the basics.
She shot her father a furious look, as if saying, ‘This is the man you want me to apprentice under? He doesn’t even know what an
ancient formula is!’
Her lips curled into a cold sneer as she was determined to prove that Evan was just a fool who didn’t understand anything about ancient formulas and to make her father give up on his foolish ideas.
“You don’t even know what an ancient formula is? They’re the essence of medical knowledge, each one containing incredibly valuable methods for preparing medicines. They’re complex and hard to understand. I have one, but it’s incomplete.
“I’ll gladly become your assistant if you can restore it. Deal?”
She expected Evan to back off. Instead, he rolled his eyes.
“What are you even talking about? I want to see the ancient formula!”

“Huh?” Artemisia froze. She had made her point so clear. Yet, Evan still wanted to see the formula? Could it be that he really knew medicine?
Even so, she couldn’t just hand it over What if he leaked it?
