Chapter 81 The Young Prodigy

“What? Simple?” Artemista’s eyes went wide in disbelief when she heard Evan’s words.

She had been studying this incomplete formula ever since she’d been overseas, working on it for days and nights. Yet, she still had no clue how to fix it. And now Evan said it was an easy fix?

“To make matters worse, there are so many mistakes. Is this all you could do after spending so much time on it? What in heaven’s name have you been studying? How pathetic Evan said in condescension. 1

Artemisia felt her heart hit the floor. She’d been going down the wrong path all this time?

“You’re not even a real doctor! So, what right do you have to stand there and tear me down, huh? If you’re so clever, then prove it! Show me exactly where I went wrong!” Her cheeks burned as she shot back, her voice tinged with fury and humiliation.

She was a prodigy, a medical PhD holder who had published over a dozen papers in The Lancet. Yet, some hack was dismissing her work as worthless? This was pure humiliation.

However, her anger gave way to shock the very next second.

That was because Evan had picked up a pen and methodically pointed out several mistakes, patiently explaining each one.

Artemisia froze in astonishment. Even Caleb was intently listening to Evan’s impromptu lecture. After all, he hadn’t noticed

these errors either.

As his lesson went on, Artemisia became completely absorbed with his lesson. Her eyes were glued to him as he continued to talk. The disgust and contempt she had felt earlier vanished, replaced by awe.

She never expected that what Hazel and Roxanne had called a worthless substitute would actually be an expert of unparalleled

brilliance.

If anyone else were here to witness this, their jaws would have dropped. After all, Caleb and Artemisia were visibly enraptured by Evan’s lesson, completely absorbed in every word he spoke.

“So… Mr. Norwood, can you fix it?” Caleb asked cautiously.

Evan glanced at him. “What do you think?”

“Ah-“Caleb’s jaw quickly snapped shut with a click, realizing that he’d put his foot in his mouth.

Evan casually picked up his pen and started reconstructing the ancient formula. He’d done it all in less than a minute.

“Here.” He handed the reconstructed ancient formula back to Artemisia.

“That’s it?” Both of them stared, utterly dumbfounded.

“Yeah.” He’d used his techniques from Ninefold Arcane Arts to fix it, making it almost laughably easy.

They inhaled sharply as they eagerly rushed to examine the formula carefully. The longer they read it, the more astonished they

became.

“It’s actually complete! You’ve even used methods that I never even considered using!” Tears welled in Artemisia’s eyes as she

marveled aloud.

She had been proven wrong in the best way possible. She had spent five years repairing less than a fifth of it. Yet, she’d gotten most of it wrong. Meanwhile, Evan had managed to fix it in fifty seconds.

Caleb looked at her steadily. “Do you finally understand why I was so insistent that you study under Mr. Norwood? Do you now understand why I kept saying you had to pick him up?”

Artemisia nodded hard; her pride had been swiftly replaced with humility. “Yes, Dad. I was completely in the wrong. ”
