Chapter 702: Mask of the Nameless King

Damon nodded. He decided to first equip the item and check what its abilities are. Ultimately, if it is not useful for him at the moment, then there was no need to risk anything. He lifted the mask and placed it over his face.

Immediately, a cold, silky sensation spread across his skin as the mask dissolved into golden motes, fusing seamlessly with his face. Runes ignited behind his eyes, and a muted golden glow flashed. Information flooded his mind.

Ding! [You have equipped a Legendary Grade Item]

Ding! [You have earned the achievement ’Legendary’. All your other items now have the ability to self-repair and withstand a higher amount of direct damage.]

[Mask of the Nameless King]

Grade: Legendary

Type: Facial Equipment

The mask belongs to the King who doesn’t have a name. The Nameless King ruled righteously and wisely. When the great plague struck the kingdom, the King sacrificed his name, his face, his existence, binding them to the mask so that his Kingdom could endure even after he lost himself.

Nameless Veil (Passive): S rank skill

The wearer’s aura, intent, will, soul, bloodline, presence and identity are completely suppressed. Detection by perception skills, tracking abilities, fate-based targeting, and name-linked effects is greatly reduced. The wearer appears as an unremarkable existence.

Damon let out a slow breath. For a Legendary item, a single skill seemed extremely underwhelming at first glance, but the devil was always in the details. Even though it only carried one ability, that ability was S-rank!

This was the first S-rank skill Damon had come across in both his lifetimes, not counting the absurd, ridiculously overpowered skill tied directly to his bloodline. And unlike most skills that grew incrementally, this one didn’t build up to greatness. It simply existed at the top.

At first, Damon had only expected the mask to suppress his vampiric aura and blood essence, enough to let him pass as a Light-faction player with a bit of caution. That alone would have been invaluable. But this... this went far beyond concealment.

It didn’t merely hide his power, it erased his presence.

With this, he would even be able to step back into the light faction continent boldly despite B ranks chasing behind him. To the world, he became a blank space that simply did not matter. That was terrifying.

With this mask, he wouldn’t need to skulk through shadows or rely solely on disguises and caution. He could walk straight back onto the Light-faction continent openly, through guarded cities, guild territories, even regions where B-rank experts were actively hunting him and they would pass by without a second glance.

Damon’s lips curved into a faint, dangerous smile. It was time for him to get out of the wilderness, at least one of him. Would his clone even survive at that distance? Just how independent was it?

Damon shrugged. There was only one way to find out.

"Primordial...." One rasped.

"You are a...." The other one trembled and paled.

As Damon’s true identity was finally revealed to them, the three stared at him with utter shock and reverence. They had already expected him to be someone extraordinary but this was simply too much for them to take in.

Their new Master, their Lord and their God was a Primordial!

A look of madness appeared on the faces of the three which slowly turned to stubborn resoluteness. The pain no longer mattered and their anxiety and nervousness about changing their paths disappeared without any trace.

Soon, the three blacksmiths rose slowly, breathing heavily but standing firm. "We are grateful for your blessing, my Lord. We will not let you down, my Lord." They bowed their heads all the way down and did not dare look up.

"From this moment on, our hammers, our craft, and our lives belong to you. We will forge weapons worthy of a Primordial, or break ourselves trying."

The old ghost floated behind them, arms crossed, grin sharp and satisfied. "Hah... I told you," he said smugly. "You will not regret. My first disciple is just as extraordinary as the three of you. Even though his talent in blacksmithing is questionable."

Damon’s face twitched but he did not respond to the old vampire. "That’s enough. I am sure you three will go great things. Your fate has changed today. Make sure it was worth it."
