“Alright, we’ll call tomorrow for more updates.” My sisters said as I bid them a goodnight. We talked for about ten minutes and they were aware of where I travelled to, because they knew who Kai’s father is since he looked so much like Zoren and there was no use denying it. But my mother had no idea that Kai even existed so she doesn’t know about any of this, cause since she began to travel five years ago, she hasn’t ever returned. We spoke on the phone a few times, on birthdays and Christmas, that was it.

I was putting the phone down just as the door got shoved open so abruptly that I jumped, feeling my chest tighten around my heart at once. I sat up just as the woman who I now know as Erica walked in, strutting in like she owned the place, her head held high and her eyes trailing over the whole place before settling on my face.

“Aren’t you gonna get on your knees and greet me?” She echoed in a sharp voice while her razor sharp eyed remained pinned on me. I let out a slow breath as I continued to stare st her, feeling uncomfortable

underneath her gaze because there was so much contempt in her eyes. I couldn’t believe this was the woman who was sweet to Zoren back in the office a while ago.

“Miss, please lower your voice, my son is sleeping.” I breathed out she held my gaze for a few seconds before bursting into laugher, her voice rising even more and a frown settled on my own face.

“Who think I give two fucks about you or your son?” She asked as she stepped closer to the bed, and I quickly aligned the bed just as she continued. “You’re in the presence of this pack’s future Luna. This is a privilege, and yet you can’t show some respect?”

I let out an awkward cough. “I dont know what you’re talking about, but I don’t think you should be in here. And you’re still raising your voice, I really don’t want you to wake my son up, he’s been struggling with-” I was still speaking when she waved me off.

“You’re the ones who shouldn’t be in here, you wretched looking things. Who the fuck are you? And where did you come from?” She shot at me in a sharp voice and I remained silent, wondering what her problem was. I had no intention of responding to her because I don’t know her and she wasn’t the one who offered this room to my son and I, so I owe her no explanations.

“Please stop making noise.” I told her as politely as I could, not wanting to cause any problems but not also wanting to ruin my son’s sleep cause it’s been ages since I slept this long without waking up, and it’s only been a few hours. That’s to show how much he’s been suffering.

“You’re a human, but your son isn’t.” She stated all of a sudden, her eyes narrowed as she regarded me with venom filled eyes. “And I just heard some outrageous rumors going around.”

She pointed towards Kai as she continued. “Turn your son over and show me his face.” She ordered, voice sharp and commanding.

I kept staring at her for a few seconds before letting out a startled laugh. Did she seriously believe I’d just do that because she asked me to.

“I can’t do that.” I told her calmly and she bristly.

“Why the fuck not? Do it right now. You can’t refuse my orders.” She bit out sharply.

I pursed my lips, feeling extremely annoyed. I didn’t wanna get mad, cause I was technically on unfamiliar territory, and also because she is Zoren’s woman. But this woman was really pushing me.

“I can’t. That would disrupt his sleep and you can’t just order me do something and expect me to do it. I don’t even know you.” I pointed out, and she let out a shrill cry before launching herself towards the bed. I was fast as well and I managed to block her, pushing her away and standing between her and the bed, my hands spread out protectively.

“Don’t touch my son, I won’t let you!” I tell her though butter teeth. I was very protective of Kai and it dosent matter who it is, I’ll stand in front of the person to defend him

I expect her to try to shove me out of her way or something, I even braced myself for it, determined to not let her true. However, instead of trying thzt, she just landed a firm slap across that completely disoriented me for a few seconds just as my head whipped sideways from the force.

“That’s for daring to stand in front of me. In front of the pack’s future Luna!” She snapped, disgust in her eyes as she stared at me while I gaped at her, while clutching my stinging cheek and unable to believe that just happened.

What the fuck. This woman is insane.

“Now, step aside.” She uttered confidently “unless you want another slap? Make your choice fast!” She snapped.

Instead of responding, I brought my hand firmly over her cheek in a firm slap of mine- or attempted to, but she caught my hand and twisted it so hard, I heard a crack. I let out a pained hiss, pain running through the veins there while feeling my leg wobble a little. She didn’t let go of my hand and just continued to stare at me, a pleased glint in her eyes.

“You think you can measure up to a werewolf? A female alpha at that? Oh, what a delusional human you are!” She crooned and the pain flooding my insides was so intense, it felt like my wrist was broken.

Almost immediately, a gasp left her mouth then she let go of my wrist, stepping back to put some distance between us. I frowned in confusion, not understanding why, and my confusion worsened when she dragged her fingers over her right cheek, leaving angry marks behind, then she clutched it and let out a shrill cry.

My mouth fell open in utter disbelief. What the fuck?

I instantly understood why he just did that as soon as two men stepped into the room, with a shirtless Zoren in the middle. His bulging muscles gleaned with sweat, and I watched as his eyes darted between the two of us before he darted towards Erica who instantly fell against his chest while still screaming.

The sight of Zoren’s arms around her had my heart clenching tightly for some reason.

“She hurt me, she just hurt me when all I wanted to do was to check in on her! To see if she settled in comfortably cause I heard that you had a guest placed in here, but she hurt me.” As Erica explained nothing but lies, she began to sob out of nowhere and my mouth fell open even more in utter disbelief.

Zoren wouldn’t fall for that, would he?
