My heart flew into my throat. I felt panicked even though I hadn’t been doing anything wrong. Zoren finally stoped in front of Ethan who held his hands up as he spoke.
“I was only bandaging her hand.”
Zoren growled and I gasped In fear while wondering why he was so angry.
“It looked like more to me,” he informed Ethan who shook his head firmly as he spoke again.
“We wernt doing anything, alpha.”
Zoren’s eyes were dark when they focused on me and I gasped, backing up in the bed and I almost fainted when he approached me. I almost cried when I watched Ethan slip out of the room from the side of my eyes cause he was leaving me here with a furious looking Zoren.
“What were you doing with him? You were throwing yourself at him?” He barked and my eyes widened as I shook my head fast, feeling annoyed and insulted that he’d think that way.
“I- why would I do that?” I cried out before gasping when he slapped a hand on the spot beside my hips as he stepped closer to me, his hips shoving my legs apart as he stepped right between them, making me gasp as heat shot through my entire body at once. The pain in my chest seemed to disappear all of a sudden, leaving me feeling thirsty and hungry for something I couldn’t put my hands on. Zoren’s nose flared as he stared down at me and my heart pounded away as I stared up at him, fully aware of his presence right now.
“You’ll not get close to any man here in this place. No getging physical with them, not even a hug. Do you understand?” He barked and I jumped while nodding fast as my heart kept pounding away.
“Words.” He murmured and I swallowed emptily before speaking.
“I- I understand.” I whispered, my insides suddenly feeling weak when he leaned even closer to me, making my head feel like it was spinning and growing empty.
“W- we should go check up on… on ka-” I was still speaking when he shushed me by pressing a hand against my lips, which made a tremor course through my entire body.
His eyes zeroed in on my throat, at the spot he bit last night to ‘sever’ the bond between us, then his brows furrowed a little as he reached out and brushed a thumb against it. I gasped as heat shot through that spot at once, one which crawled through my entire body as my eyes fkuttteted helplessly while I struggled for purchase on the bed underneath me.
Zoren was frowning as he pulled his finger away.
“That wasn’t supposed to happen. This bite should be unresponsive to me now.” He spat and I jumped, feeling like I had done something wrong as he stepped away from me, his facial expression hard as stone.
“Let’s go.” He didn’t wait for me, he just turned and headed for the door. I scrambled off the bed, feeling like he was leaving with a part of me again while the pain began to return to my chest now that he was no longer close to me.
That was weird and ceeepy.
Back in the ivory room, the doctor was standing beside an unconscious Kai, a grin expression on and at the sight of the grim faces of the two betas, the delta and jet, I felt panic swell fast within me as I rushed forward, clutching Kai’s hand as I urgently addressed the doctor.
“What is it? What’s wrong with my son? If he gonna die?” I cried out and when the doctor glanced awsy, I burst into tears, feeling like I might faint from the onslaught of dread that settled over me.
“He- he can’t die, Doctor.” I cried out before looking over at Ethan. “You said the doctor won’t let him die!” I cried out as tears freely rolled down my cheeks.
Ethan spoke fast. “He’s not… he’s not gonna die, is he, doc?” The lack of confidence in his voice broke me,

coupled with the silence of the doctor.
Zoren stopped in front of the doctor whose face instantly paled.
“What’s wrong with him?” Zoren asked calmly, pointing at Kal’s still form. He wasn’t screaming at the doctor, but the doctor seemed to be scared out of his mind cause he stumbled over his words as he spoke.
“I- ah… the kid… it doesn’t look good…” he trailed off to suck in a sharp breath when Zoren let out a long breath, then he tried again.
“The kid health is deteriorating fast because his wolf is nearing a stage of shift at a really rapid pace. His vitals are quite weak and his wolf is so disconnected from him. I suspect signs of upcoming ferality in his wolf but I’d like to carry out some tests for that.” He revealed and gasps echoed across the room.
“Dear heavens.” Sarah cried out, sounding horrified. I didn’t know what that meant but ckeerly it meant something terrible and I asked Jet who was standing beside me.
“It means when a human shifts into their wolf form.” He responded quickly. But I still feel very confused as to why that was a bad thing.
“A state of shift? Is that possible at his age? He’s only five.” Zoren pointed out, a frown on his face as he regarded Kai now and why everyone was shocked slowly dawned on me.
“No, it’s not. which is why it’s dangerous for his health. Early shifts usually starts from eleven years. Normal shift starts at sixteen. He’s just five, his bones aren’t fully developed yet to undergo a shift, it’s just gonna kill him.” The doctor explained in a grim voice and I burst into tears while those words echoed through my mind over and over again.
My son is gonna die??
Oh gods.
Please no.
As tears rolled down my eyes, I clutched Kai’s hand while desperately hoping for some sort of miracle to save him.
