‘Ethan?‘ I reached out to Ethan after opening my mind and tapping the link that connects us together. He felt warm and familiar in my chest and we expected, he would answer instantly.
‘Yes, your majesty?”
I opened the drink I just retrieved from the bar and took a deep gulp from it. I was presently in my office instead of me being in Ciara’s room, cause I wanted to have this conversation with my beta first.
After telling Ethan where I was, I closed the mind link and remained in the same position I was resting in moments ago, against the window. The drink wasn’t helping the pain in my chest but at least it was helping me slow down my jumbled thoughts. The door opened and Ethan stepped in, his watery, barely noticeable scent filled the air. Ethan had the most comforting scent out of all my three betas. Breathing in his scent usually helps in clearing my head instantly and right now it wasn’t any different.
“Here I am.” He announced as he walked up to my bar and pulled out a drink without permission.
“I didn’t give you a go ahead.” I called out but as expected, he acted deaf cause he knew I’d never hurt him no matter what.
“Oops, already opened it.” He drawled as he waltzed away from the bar and came to perch himself on the desk in front of me. He took a few swigs of the alcohol and groaned in approval.
“What do you think I should do?” I asked him without beating around the bush, then I gave him a quick explanation of what’s on ground.
“I say you go ahead and bite Ciara.” He breathed out without hesitations.
I squinted for a few seconds before huffing out. “But that means I won’t be able to get married to Erica.”
Ethan shrugged. “So? Who cares? Cause you certainly don’t.” He pointed out and I felt so called out that it would have been hilarious to me in a less serious situation, cause he wasn’t wrong.
“It dosent matter if I care or not, I have to give the pack a Luna, a strong Luna,” I pointed out and when Ethan just kept staring at me, I bristled.
“Don’t you understand? I can’t take a human as a mate! A human can’t sit on the throne.”
Ethan let out a long sigh like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing before he leaned forward. “
“But you’re the freaking king, and your rules are law. Echo cares if it’s against the rules that humans can’t sit on the throne? You can literally change that rule.”
I pursed my lips. That was easier said than done, rules can’t just be changed on a whim, which is why I still feel so conflicted.
“I think you should go to Ciara. You clearly went to, I can feel it.”
I exhaled harshly, hating that I was being this transparent right now. This is Ciara’s fault.
“What do you think of Ciara?” I asked after a few seconds,
Ethan was silent for a bit before he spoke. “She’s very beautiful, so ridiculously breathtaking, and her skin reminds me of clouds, and I can understand why you fell for her five years ago.”
I growled, instantly growing defensive. “The fuck? I didn’t fall for her in the past. I told you what happened in the past was a mistake,”

Ethan nodded but I hated that he seemed like he was only humoring me, just as he continued. “At least the mistake brought
forth Kai.”
I nodded. “Yes, and I’ll always be happy about that.” I agreed.
“Ciara is kind hearted, and she seemed so genuine and pure hearted from the little I know about her so far.” Ethan continued and I watched him closely before speaking again.
“What did you two talk about in the ward? Did you two talk about… me?” I asked tentatively and almost punched Ethan when he snorted.
“She didn’t mention you. Why? You want her to talk about her? Or, would you like me to get her to reveal things about you to me later?” His eyes were dancing with mirth and I felt annoyed.
“Never mind.” I snapped out.
“That injured hand of hers, was it much?” I asked and Ethan sobered up.
“So, you didn’t ask her about it throughout the day you both spent together?” He asked, not judging at all, just curious: when I remained silent, he sighed and shook his head.
“It’s thankfully nothing so serious, and I believe that deep down, you actually know who hurt her hand without you having to ask me.” He revealed and my mind instantly returned back to Erica.
“So it really was Erica?” I echoed, shock and disbelief reeling through my chest. “But… I never knew she could hurt anyone. How could she do that?”
Ethan shrugged, his lips twitching. “Well, at least you’ve finally seen what she is. It’s tiring to keep acting like we all believe she breathes sunshine like you’ve always believed.” He drawled and my mind reeled even more.
“I still can’t believe this. This means everything I’ve known about her is a lie?” I echoed quietly and Ethan snorted again.
“What do you even know about her aside from what she lets you see? You’re not interested in her, you barely hang out around her so it’s understandable that all you know about her are things she chose to show you. But take it from me, she is the complete opposite of all what you’ve believed.”
My head reeled even more and I held a hand up. “That’s enough, I’ll know what to do With Erica tomorrow. Tonight is about Ciara.”
Ethan got to his feet. “So go to her then,”
But I still hesitated.
“Ciara isn’t what you believe either. She and her mother betrayed my father in the past, stole from him and disappeared, but she keeps denying that till date. I still don’t think I can take a thief as a mate even though I don’t want her to die.” I breathed out and my beta hummed.
“Well, what if she really is telling the truth? What if she really didn’t steal anything?”
I snorted. “Then she’d not have left.” I pointed out.
“You’re forgetting the fact that she was younger back then, which meant her mum could still call the shots in her life compared to now. Of course her mother wouldn’t have let her stay back. And if she had stayed back, y’all would have locked her up anyway,”
I opened my mouth to deny what he just said but I ended up closing my mouth because he was right now that I was thinking about it. We’d have really locked her up if she had stayed back.
But there’s no proof that she’s been saying the truth this whole time; so this doesn’t change anything.
