Chapter 333 A Changed World

If the daylight no longer stayed safe, regular gathering trips and scouting runs would become exponentially more dangerous.

“My Lord…” Jack struggled to stand and bow to Riley. But the movement pulled his leg wound. He hissed in pain and dropped back down onto the ground.

“Stay down. You’re badly hurt. Skip the formalities.”

Riley walked over quickly and checked their injuries. The wounds looked scary, but none were fatal. They were mostly shallow cuts mixed with severe frostbite.

“The wind’s too harsh out here to treat wounds. Let’s head back to my camp.

She turned toward TartKing. “Tart, grab the two horses and follow me.”

“Got it, Burger.”

Riley had the two men sit beside the camp altar. She pulled a large bottle of high-purity medical alcohol and several rolls of clean white bandages out of her inventory.

All these supplies were stocked up by Nobody.

“Treat your own wounds.” Riley set the items down on a table. “This is alcohol. It disinfects cuts, but it’ll sting like hell. Try not to flinch.

“These are bandages. Wrap them tight to stop infection.”

She originally wanted to message Nobody for remote medical guidance, but she changed her mind. They had more than enough alcohol and bandages. As long as they disinfected properly, any wrapping would work.

Jack was a tough man. He gritted his teeth, peeled off his torn leather armor, and poured the alcohol straight onto his gashes.

“Hiss!”

White foam bubbled on his wounds. Veins bulged on his forehead, and cold sweat dripped down his face. Still, he clamped his jaw hard and held back every scream.

Riley left Jack and Tom to tend to themselves. She took the horses and headed into her

Neeko was still tending herbs inside. She turned her head and saw Riley and TartKing walking in with the two injured horses.

The second she spotted the wounds, Necko hurried over. She placed her palms gently against the horses’ scarred necks.

Faint pale light glowed from her hands and slowly spread across the animals’ fur.

As a Druid, Neeko could not bring the dead back to life. Still, she had a natural bond with all living things and possessed weak healing magic.

The horses had been restless and snorting in pain earlier. Under the soft green light, they gradually calmed down. Their bleeding wounds closed up and scabbed over visibly, just like the injured fawn Neeko had healed before.

The two horses were strong and still able to walk, so healing them did not drain her too much. Moments later, the horses nuzzled Neeko’s cheeks gently to show their gratitude.

After the healing process, Neeko sat down on the grass, breathing heavily from exhaustion.

“You did amazing, Neeko.” Riley pulled out a stamina recovery potion from her bag, unsure whether it would work on her.

TartKing sat down beside Neeko and stroked the horses with her.

After praising Neeko, Riley left the horses in the subspace to rest. The woodland environment had plenty of grass for them to eat, making it the perfect place for recovery.

Once she confirmed the horses were stable, Riley walked back into the yard and stood in front of Jack and Tom.

“Can you tell me what’s going on with you two now?” She looked at Jack, who was clumsily wrapping his bandages. “You’ve been gone for days. Did you find the way back? Any traces of Winterhold City or the High Court Winery?”

At her question, Jack froze mid-movement. His eyes turned dull and hopeless.

The quiet, honest Tom shook his head painfully.

“Nothing… we found nothing.” Jack’s voice sounded rough and hoarse. “We traveled through the snow every day. At night, we hid in ice caves or hollow trees to stay out of the wind, keeping torches lit at the entrances.
