“So this is the ‘visual experience’ Felix was talking about?” PineappleBeer folded her arms and stared at the crude explosives, her expression twitching slightly.

“They’re huge. Won’t they be a pain to bury?”

“Should fit just fine.” Riley hefted two metal barrels weighing nearly 40 pounds apiece, then stowed all six inside her inventory.

She pulled a folding shovel out next and handed it to PineappleBeer.

“Let’s go.”

They kept their departure quiet, only pausing to notify SouthWind, who was on night watch, before slipping silently out the back of the camp.

Night settled deep over the snowfields, where wandering Ghouls roamed freely. The dim shadows helped mask their movement, and their gear bonuses kept them well hidden from prying eyes.

As an assassin, Pineapple Beer’s stealth mastery was unmatched. The moment she stepped past camp bounds, her frame seemed to melt into the darkness-only the faintest silhouette glinted in the snow’s pale reflection. She’d honed her stealth to perfection, moving so lightly she barely stirred the frozen snow beneath her feet.

Riley stayed roughly 30 yards behind, using the night and rough terrain for cover.

Circling clear of the frontline standoff with WarWolf Guild, they followed a narrow, hidden gully PineappleBeer had scouted earlier They looped wide until they reached an unavoidable route one mile behind the WarWolf camp.

It was a long, gentle slope flanked by jagged, uneven terrain. Any/reinforcement party coming this way would have no choice but to take the central path.

“This is the spot-their only route for incoming backup.”

PineappleBeer’s voice drifted over, her figure all but invisible in the dark.

“Perfect.”

Riley moved forward quickly and pulled all six smiley-face bombs from her Inventory.

“I’ll dig the pits, you set the trigger mechanisms. Felix saki these need pressure plates wired to the fuses to detonate property.

With that, she pulled a refined iron pickaxe from her bag and began hacking hard into the frozen ground.

Her overpowered strength made breaking permafrost feel as easy as digging into soft bread.

In less than half an hour, six deep pits were ready.

PineappleBeer lowered each barrel into place gently, carefully arranging the frayed fuses as she murmured with a faint tease.

“Wonder how WarWolf’s folks will react stepping onto these and seeing giant grinning faces pop out from the snow. Think they take it as us mocking them?”

Riley shoveled loose snow back into the pits and packed it down firm, a quiet laugh escaping her.

“Mocking or not, Felix put it best–he calls it southern hospitality. Since they’re coming our way, we might as well roll out the welcome mat.”

The two worked in flawless sync, laying pressure-trigger planks over each buried barre to complete the chained minefield.

To cover their tracks fully, PineappleBeer dusted fine white snow over every disturbed patch, erasing all signs of digging.

“Clean work.” She brushed off her hands and stood up. “Time to head back. The blasts will act as an alert too-we’ll know the second their reinforcements show up.”

“Now we can actually get some real sleep.” Riley glanced toward the distant landscape, then faded into the wind and snow alongside PineappleBeer.

It was past nine at night when they returned to camp.

The moment they shook snow from their coats and stepped through the gates, a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere washed over them.

Several large iron pots sat simmering around the central bonfire, brewing fragrant mushroom broth that steamed invitingly over the flames.

TartKing had laid out stacks of toast and seasoned steak, setting up an impromptu grill beside the Bonfire Altar.

Players gathered around the fire, sipping hot broth and chatting casually as they enjoyed their late-night meal.

Everyone crowded over the second Riley and PineappleBeer walked in.
