Chapter 423 Sci–Fi Workshop

The system prompt remained completely silent. There was no congratulatory level–up chime, nor was there a catastrophe building destruction warning. It was exactly like a line of code crashing mid–execution after intting a string of unrecognizable gibberish.
Is this actually just a game after all?
Not entirely unexpected, Riley sighed softly in her mind as she watched the vibrating card.
She felt a sting of regret–it was an incredibly rare targeted upgrade card, after all.
But she quickly let it go. The very existence of this Tool Room defied the logic of the survival game; it was a mutant hybrid of Earth’s physical laws and the system’s creation mechanics.
It made sense that standard system items couldn’t upgrade it normally.
Whatever. As long as it can still craft orange–tier gear, I’m good, Riley’s inherent rationality quickly kicked in. She turned away, ignoring the glitching card, and headed toward the head of the assembly line to craft the purple hood PineappleBeer had requested.
However, the exact second Riley turned her back.
The phantom card she had just given up on–which had been on the verge of fading–suddenly cranked its vibration frequency to a terrifying extreme!
VMMMM–!!!
An invisible shockwave detonated outward from the card!
Riley’s pupils shrank to pinpricks, and she whipped around.
The pocket of space surrounding the suspended card began to visibly warp and distort into a surreal hallucination.
Ripples of spatial energy lashed out wildly, twisting the surrounding scenery into bizarre, kaleidoscopic shapes.
With the card’s final, violent tremor, a bone–chilling crack echoed through the room.
› It sounded as if an invisible boundary had just been snapped in half.
Suddenly, a monolithic surge of energy violently erupted from that distorted spatial node! The sheer, terrifying magnitude of the power made Riley feel like the fabric of reality was about to be shredded to

BOOM
Instantly, blinding rays of pure white light blasted out of the spatial rift, indiscriminately engulfing the entire Tool Room in a split second.

The violently unstable spatial distortion ruthlessly hammered against Riley’s senses.

Even with her stats miles above an average player’s, facing this majestic power–which felt like two dimensions physically colliding–Riley was hit with a crushing wave of vertigo.
Her stomach churned violently. The white light was so searingly bright it physically burned her eyes, forcing involuntary tears down her cheeks. Relying on pure instinct, she squeezed her eyes shut, threw her arms over her head, and crouched low, fighting against the sickening weightlessness caused by the spatial quakes.
She had no idea how long the dizzying torture lasted. Maybe seconds, maybe minutes.
When the spatial–tearing hum finally ebbed away and the blinding white light receded, Riley slowly lowered her arms. Fighting through the painful stinging in her eyes, she forced them open.
One look, and she was frozen in place.
Calling this a “Tool Room” felt like an insult now.
The rusted, heavy–industrial wasteland aesthetic of the iron shack was entirely gone.
The entire interior had morphed into a sleek, ultra–cold, sci–fi “steel plate” aesthetic.
The walls, ceiling, and floor were now seamlessly constructed from a high–strength, matte silver–grey alloy. Everything fit together flawlessly; there wasn’t a single weld mark in sight.
The heavy stench of machine oil had vanished without a trace, replaced by the sterile, crisp air of a high- tech cleanroom.
Riley looked around, her eyes instantly locking onto the left side of the room.
The corner that used to be a dumping ground for scrap and clutter had been entirely cleared out. In its place stood a massive, multi–compartment metal cabinet that swallowed almost the entire wall.
The cabinet was precisely divided into dozens of transparent glass compartments.
Inside each compartment rested a single, perfectly aligned tool. There was a high–frequency cutting saw, a multifunctional electric wrench, a precision grinder… but the most shocking part was that each compartment had a built–in wireless charging port. It was obvious these tools were automatically charging, sitting in perfect standby condition. The catch? Every other electronic device in the camp had shut down to feed the power draw. The camp’s current grid simply wasn’t strong enough to run the new Tool Room at full capacity.
