Riley’s eye twitched. Right before his massive frame could crush her, she clamped a hand firmly over his fluffy beak. She pulled two pieces of jerky from her Inventory and shoved them into his mouth, finally pacifying the hyperactive giant.
“You’re growing so fast. Looks like you’ll actually be able to fly me around soon,” Riley said, rubbing the stiff feathers on Ash’s neck, a flash of anticipation in her eyes.
Ash seemed to understand her words. He leaned his body forward, striking a pose that practically screamed, Hop on, I can fly you right now!
Riley chuckled and didn’t take him up on the offer.
“Forget it. You might not be scared, but I definitely am.”
Given that Ash’s size was almost the same as hers now, Riley was genuinely terrified of an accident happening mid–air.
Though Ash looked a bit disappointed, he continued to circle Riley, and Neeko happily joined in on the fun.
After playing with them for a bit, Riley left them to their antics and stepped out of the house. She first hammered out the commissions she had accepted that afternoon but hadn’t finished yet, then headed toward the glasshouse next to the portal.
Separated by only a single pane of glass, it felt like crossing into a completely different dimension.
The minus–fifty–degree Super Blizzard was completely locked out.
Hitting her face was a warm, salty sea breeze, accompanied by the rhythmic crash of waves against the fine sand. The dazzling starry sky illuminated the pristine white beach in perfect detail. A few tall palm trees swayed gently in the breeze.
Before she even reached the shoreline, a massive dark red silhouette lunged out from behind a cluster of reefs.
It was the Variant Flame Wolf.
When it was about two or three yards away from Riley, the Flame Wolf slammed on the brakes, its four paws gouging deep trenches into the sand and kicking up a cloud of dust.

“Hey little guy. Really owe you for today,” Riley said, standing her ground and looking at the wolf. “How is it? Adapting well?”
The Flame Wolf stood obediently in front of Riley, its eyes full of pure, unadulterated ignorance. It clearly didn’t understand a word she was saying.
Riley had to switch to simpler commands.
“Sit!”
Without a second’s hesitation, the terrifying behemoth that had been an absolute engine of destruction on the battlefield retracted all its ferocity. It obediently bent its hind legs and plopped its butt onto the sand. It even lowered its massive head slightly, gently nudging Riley’s palm with its warm nose.
Riley took the opportunity to sit cross–legged on the sand, her hand stroking the smooth yet incredibly tough fur on its neck.
Although it couldn’t understand complex sentences, it completely grasped the meaning of basic commands.
“Paw,” Riley ordered.
The Flame Wolf immediately lifted its left paw–which was larger than Riley’s entire face–and placed its paw pad on her palm.
“Guard.”
Whoosh! The Flame Wolf instantly sprang to its feet. The dim embers on its body violently erupted, transforming into a roaring coat of red and blue flames.
“Alright, at ease.”
Seeing the wolf instantly revert to its docile state and lie back down beside her, Riley was extremely satisfied.
What surprised her the most, however, was that this wolf was only one day old.
“Hungry?”
Riley opened her system Inventory, casually pulled out two pieces of the jerky she fed Ash, and offered them to the Flame Wolf.
However, completely contrary to her expectations…
