“Great job. Alright everyone, drop whatever non–essential tasks you’re doing. Twiggy can handle the ground–level decorations. Let’s get the guild base wired up with power first.”
Hearing the boss assigning tasks, a bunch of survivors immediately volunteered and crowded around.
Everyone was shocked but incredibly eager at the prospect of getting electricity. 1
Riley looked around, her eyes locking onto the Guild Warehouse–a tall building with a sufficiently flat roof.
She executed a double jump, landing cleanly on the warehouse roof. With the help of Twiggy extending its vines to form a makeshift staircase, the other survivors quickly climbed up.
Under Riley’s direction and Twiggy’s acrobatic vine assistance, the installation proceeded with perfect order.
Twenty generators were swiftly and evenly installed across the main warehouse’s rooftop platform. The few that couldn’t fit were mounted on the roof of the guild inn.
The crew used ropes to hoist the heavy generator bases up. Riley personally took an electric drill and expansion bolts, drilling into the freezing stone slabs to secure them.
The guild base’s temperature control wasn’t as absolute as her private camp; standing this high up, the biting winter winds still managed to cut through.
While working on the roof, Riley happened to glance out at the distant snowfield.
At the edge of her vision, she could faintly make out a few small squads of two or three, trudging through knee–deep snow, fighting their way back toward the guild base. Those were the exploration teams NorthWind and PineappleBeer had taken out that morning.
Before she knew it, the sky had already started to darken, even though it wasn’t nearly time for sunset yet.
What bothered Riley more, however, was that the cloud cover had grown incredibly thick and oppressive over the last hour. The Super Blizzard, which had been gone for a while, seemed to be showing signs of a violent comeback.
Howling gale–force winds, mixed with jagged ice shards, hammered viciously against the guild base’s magical shield, sending ripples across its surface.

Riley forcefully jammed the last thick copper cable into the matching power distribution unit.
Hummmmm-
Driven by the fierce winds, the twenty medium–sized wind turbines on the roof began to spin.
In that instant, it felt as if a soul had been breathed into the entire Hope Guild base.
The exploration squad members who had just finished their quests and reached the guild gates looked up in sheer awe as a massive swath of electric lights flared to life across the base.
Riley hopped down from the roof just in time to see PineappleBeer and NorthWind–each leading a squad of about ten people–striding into the plaza.
Both of them were covered in snow; even their eyebrows were caked with frost.
PineappleBeer’s black trench coat was stained with several highly conspicuous patches of dark green monster blood. Yet, their eyes were incredibly bright, and everyone was dragging heavily loaded sleds behind them.
“D*mn, Riley, you move fast. We leave for a day, and we come back to the electrical era?”
PineappleBeer ripped off her windproof mask, exhaling a long plume of white breath, waving as she walked toward Riley.
NorthWind trailed behind her, unable to hide his smile. He nodded respectfully at Riley. “Boss, we’re back. Got lucky today. Explored over twenty–five miles north and found a hidden warehouse ruin.”
“Good work. Run into any trouble?” Riley walked up to meet them, her gaze sweeping over the squad members behind them. They all looked exhausted, but thankfully, there were no serious casualties.
“Trouble? Yeah, we ran into a nest of mutated Polar Snow Spiders,” Pineapple Beer scoffed. “Took some effort, but we wiped them out. Spider silk and venom glands are top–tier loot. Plus, we scooped up a bunch of other supplies from chests along the way, and mapped out the surrounding terrain.”
Riley nodded. “Oh right, tell BigMountain from DawnLight Guild to hit up their
cartographers. Their special maps are way better than drawing on paper. We definitely need a fully mapped layout of the terrain and resources around our guild base.”
“Got it, will do,” PineappleBeer agreed.
