Chapter 458 The Guild’s Celebration
Even more stunning were the newly crafted lanterns hanging along both sides of the main street.

These weren’t system–produced items. Everyone had used resin and bone frames, pasted them over with rough, dyed paper, and placed faintly glowing low–tier Fire Elemental Crystals inside.
When the wind blew, the warm lanterns swayed in the blizzard. Though their shapes weren’t exactly refined, they forcefully injected an authentic holiday vibe into the freezing, apocalyptic wasteland.
Walking toward the tavern, Riley and the girls looked around at the base’s decorations with absolute fascination.
“Hello, Boss!”
“Boss! Vice–Leaders! You’re here!”
“Quick, quick, the boss is here, roll out the red carpet over there…!”
Seeing Riley and her crew approaching, the bustling guild members stopped what they were doing and enthusiastically called out greetings.
Everyone’s faces were flushed red from the cold, but their eyes sparkled with a light that had been missing for a very long time.
The former Drifters Alliance members, the Hope Guild veterans, and the fresh recruits–on this special day, all boundaries were completely shattered, merging them into one true collective.
“It’s freezing out here! Once you guys are done, hurry inside! The wind is cutting like knives today!” NorthWind pushed his way through the crowd. He was wearing a bulky down jacket today, the tip of his nose red from the cold.
While talking, NorthWind enthusiastically flagged down a few survivors to help shoulder the massive barrels of High Court wine Riley and the others had brought.
“Be careful everyone! Don’t climb too high and fall!” Riley instinctively warned. Though considering everyone’s enhanced stats now, it was probably an unnecessary worry; a fall wouldn’t do any real damage.
She then led TartKing and PineappleBeer, following NorthWind toward the two–story Gothic wooden building in the center of the plaza–the Guild Tavern.
The moment they pushed open the heavy oak doors, a wave of heat tightly enveloped the three of them.
In the massive fireplace at the center of the tavern, thick pine logs crackled wildly, casting a warm glow over the entire hall. Several long wooden tables, usually meant for drinking and chatting, had been pushed together to form a gigantic prep station.
The long station was a hub of chaotic activity.
“Hanna, what the hell did you cut out? Is that supposed to be a snowflake or a spiderweb?”
“Get out of here, you have zero artistic taste! It’s a festive star! We don’t have enough paper, so I’m using beast hide. It’s stiff as a rock. You think you can do better?”
“Hey, the guy painting the banner over there! Your ‘Happy‘ is crooked! We don’t even have a proper brush, so we’re using a wolf- hair brush dipped in mutated squid ink. That is peak apocalypse right there.”

Bursts of joyous, roaring laughter erupted from the crowd.

At the long wooden table, some were clumsily using scissors and whatever scrap paper they could find to cut out paper snowflakes and garlands; others held crude, komemade brushes, splashing ink onto tong strips of cloth.
Though the painting was crooked and sloppy featuring banners like “Punch WarWolf for peace, kick monsters for the holidays“– it surprisingly perfectly captured everyone’s current state of mind.
In a spacious corner of the tavern, an incredibly spectacular Holiday Hoard Mountain” had been piled up.
It was entirely crowdsourced by the guild members.
Riley walked over to take a look. It wasn’t just high–tier roasted meats people were usually too stingy to eat. There were rare fruits pulled from system blind boxes, unknown but incredibly fragrant nuts, and someone had even contributed canned yellow peaches -which were basically relics now–along with various chocolates.
In a survival game where tomorrow was never guaranteed, the value of these items couldn’t be measured in gold coins.
This was eighty–one people emptying their pockets, piling up their personal stashes, and collectively piecing together the illusion of “home.”
