Chapter 471 The Skeleton Archers
However, scanning through the list of required materials, Riley felt a pang of disappointment.

Basic supplies like lumber, stone, and coat were manageable–if they pushed hard enough, they’d be able to grind them out eventually. But the items listed in red–the ones marked as locked–might as well have been telling Riley to stop dreaming about a Level 7 upgrade anytime soon.
Energy Core: 12/500
Mithril: 55/1000
Titanium Steel Ingots: 0/500
Large Magic Energy Core: 0/1
Lord–tier Beast Core: 0/1
Forget about where she was supposed to find Titanium Steel Ingots; she hadn’t even heard of a Large Magic Energy Core or a Lord- tier Beast Core.
One step at a time.
Riley didn’t dwell on it. She closed the panel and clapped the grease off her hands.
Forcing an upgrade right now wasn’t the play. Instead of reaching for the stars, it was better to nail the fundamentals.
By dusk, the temperature on the icefield plummeted.
The topographical shift and the end of the blizzard didn’t just bring new resources; they triggered a new monster spawn mechanic hidden by the system.
On the Server Channel, the moment night fell, the complaints started pouring in.
“Who the hell shot me! Show yourself!”
“Forget it, man, it isn’t another player. I was out mapping the terrain, and I took an arrow straight to the thigh. When I turned around, a pile of bleached bones holding a broken bow was aiming at me!”
“Same here! What the hell is this thing? No footsteps, no nothing–nearly scared the life out of me.”
“They are Skeleton Archers! New night spawns! Watch out, they don’t have body heat and they’re all bone, so they blend perfectly into the snow. You can only see them when they move. One second of carelessness and you’re taking an arrow.“-
“Are they common? I haven’t seen any yet. They won’t be spawning like Ghouls, right? If there’s a horde of these things, that’s nightmare fuel.”
Riley scanned the scrolling feed and immediately stepped out of her camp to get a look for herself.

The wind howled. The bonfire altar burned steadily, bathing a 200–yard radius in a warm, amber glow. But out in the dark snowfield beyond that light, the skittering began.
After a quick debrief with the perimeter patrol and cross–referencing the channel intel, Riley had a decent handle on their traits.
They weren’t particularly physically strong, just durable stacks of bone. But they all carried bows–crude, wooden things, but with a faint magical infusion that packed a punch.
Their eyesight was garbage, and their hearing wasn’t much better. Like Ghouls, they laid low during the day and roamed at night. Anything that triggered their light or movement sensors drew their fire–once they had a target in their sightline, they didn’t miss.
If it were just arrow fire, the guild’s obsidian walls would laugh it off. But the problem was, the obsidian walls only shielded the core base.
At the edge of the bonfire radius, there was only a three–foot–tall wooden barricade a slapdash job the members had nailed together from scrap wood to keep the Ghouls out weeks ago.
Now, with a large group of natives living right inside those barricades, they were sitting ducks for long–range attackers.
Riley walked to the edge of the wall, gazing into the pitch–black snowfield.
Poor visibility. Sensitive to light and movement.
Building a full wall now was a waste; it might complicate base expansion later.
