When he was about fifteen feet away from Riley, Shadow Hound’s body suddenly blurred. He literally melted into the shadows on the ground, vanishing completely from sight.

The very next instant, a spatial ripple warped the air directly behind Riley. Like a viper striking from the dark. Shadow Hound materialized at her back, his dual bronze maces raised high, smashing viciously toward the back of her skull.

Riley didn’t hesitate. She hurled her right battleaxe with brutal force. The weapon shrieked through the air, catching him perfectly and hacking viciously into the leather armor on his back.

A dark gold halo flickered for a fraction of a second before the defense shattered, the axe carving a massive, deep gash across his spine.

With a flick of her wrist, the axe flew back into Riley’s hand.

The remaining four members of the Black Hawk squad looked at Riley, their eyes completely changed. They were looking at a monster.

“Cap, she’s too strong! That might actually be a heavy hitter from their guild,” the frontline Knight said, his voice trembling.

The Fire Mage’s face contorted, cycling through a spectrum of emotions.

He stared dead at the expressionless Riley, his brain doing rapid math on their odds of winning.

Five against four. Even though this new woman had terrifying combat power, it didn’t mean they couldn’t win. But the price they’d pay would be astronomical; it was a losing trade.

“Grab Hound, we’re out!”
