Chapter 498 The Corridor of Bones
“Come on, Hanna, that’s not fair,” Beagle and Ketchup rubbed their heads sheepishly

At that, Hanna turned her head and gently nudged Riley with her elbow. “But seriously, Boss, when we walked out of there, the looks on those guys‘ faces were toxic. I guarantee you there’s a bunch of them lurking in the dark right now, trying to figure out how to skin us alive.”
“Let them scheme.” Riley replied, her tone completely flat.
“Our objective right now is to group everyone up, secure our safety, and avoid pointless fights. But if it comes down to it, we’ll be ready.”
Riley didn’t turn around, but with a flick of her wrist, she pulled several food boxes out of her inventory.
She popped the lids, and an incredibly rich, buttery aroma instantly filled the air.
Inside the boxes were neatly stacked, exquisitely crafted small cakes.
“Here. Pass these around; I’ve got plenty.” Riley took one for herself and handed the box to Hanna. “Get some food in your stomachs and top off your stats. These cakes come with a little extra kick.”
“I knew Tart’s baking tasted amazing, but I didn’t know it came with buffs!” Hanna’s eyes lit up. She snatched a piece and passed the box back to Beagle and the others.
These desserts were the “emergency rations” TartKing had relentlessly baked and shoved into Riley’s inventory back when PineappleBeer predicted the dungeon drop was imminent.
Back in their daily life on the freezing snowfield, these desserts were just a luxury–something to satisfy cravings and restore a tiny bit of hunger during guild tavern parties.
But right now, the situation had flipped.
Inside the dungeon, Tart’s pastries were strategic assets.
Beagle grabbed a strawberry mousse, and the detailed item specs immediately popped up on his system panel:
“Stats: Activates special buffs upon entering high–pressure instances. Upon consumption, instantly restore 5% of maximum stamina (non–stackable) and grants a 30–minute buff: Movement Speed +3%, Stamina Drain -5%,”
Beagle’s eyes practically popped out of his head. He shoved the entire cake into his mouth.
The soft, dense texture and the sweet–tart burst of berries exploded on his tongue. A wave of warmth instantly cascaded down his throat, spreading through his entire body. The massive stamina drain from sprinting and the sheer adrenaline of constant survival was drastically replenished in mere seconds.
The squad wolfed down the desserts, their footsteps instantly becoming lighter.
In extreme environments, the value of specialized crafting items was magnified infinitely.
“It tastes amazing, but I just wonder how PineappleBeer and TartKing are holding up right now,” Desk licked a smudge of cream off his mouth, a flash of worry in his eyes.

Based on the map I bought off that info broker, our primary objective is to rally all the scattered guild members on the eighth floor and consolidate our combat power. After that, we hunt for the hall leading to Floor 9. The Black Fog is sinking from the top down. If they aren’t on this floor, they’re definitely deeper down. Whether it’s the ninth floor, the tenth floor, or even if I have to carve a bloody path to the twentieth floor, I’m going to find them. I’m not leaving a single Hope Guild member behind.”
The absolute, unshakeable conviction in Riley’s voice lit a raging fire in the hearts of the six members walking behind her.
“Understood!” the squad growled in unison, their grips tightening white knuckle hard around their weapons.
The squad pushed forward. After about ten minutes, the environment began to twist in a bizarre, unsettling way.
The massive, neat blue stone bricks that lined the walls had given way at some point. Replacing them was a pale, grayish–white mater al resembling limestone.
The ground beneath their boots was no longer smooth stone slabs. It had become uneven and jagged, emitting a sickening crunch- crunch sound with every step.
