Chapter 526 First Drop
Chapter 526 First Drop
Riley didn’t let the whole team charge forward.
They were unfamiliar with the terrain. Their first fight here couldn’t turn messy and scattered.
“Hold the line. Don’t chase.”
She split open a leaping ape with her axe, then slammed the handle into another monster to knock it aside.
The ape’s claws scraped across her shoulder armor, letting out a harsh screech of metal.
It dealt solid damage.

Riley watched her HP drop noticeably, but her windbreaker triggered its life regen instantly, recovering a good chunk of the lost health.
Instead of countering the close–range ape right away, she stepped forward and forced it into a tight spot where the shield tanks could pin it down.
The shield tanks charged in.
The ape stumbled, its movement locked up for a split second.
Riley’s axe fell fast, cleanly severing one of its front limbs.
The monster lost all balance in an instant.
LoneWolf darted out from its blind spot at the rear. He drove his dagger straight into the soft gap between its hard shell and neck, finishing it off with one precise strike.
The fight was far more troublesome than they’d expected.
These shelled apes weren’t overpowered one on one, but they became brutal when using the terrain to their advantage.
They flanked the frontline from the walls and ceiling. Whenever one got injured, it let out a high–pitched shriek, drawing more hidden apes out of the dark.
Before they could clear the first wave, five more apes burst out from the deeper tunnel.
RedBean stayed at the back, messaging LoneSparrow’s group. Her expression tightened at the new chaos, but she never stopped typing.
“LoneSparrow replied!”
Riley cut down another ape. “Report.”
Ducking a spray of flying shell fragments, RedBean quickly scanned the message.
“They’re on Floor 9, not too far from us. Their location’s marked by a broken goddess statue, right next to a glowing white mineral wall.
“LoneSparrow, Felix, Damian, and two of Dayshift’s four members are with them. Seven people total.”

Their condition?” Riley asked.
“LoneSparrow has mina injuries Damian is moderately wounded. Felix’s resources are nearly drained.
“The other two from Dayshift’s team aren’t responding, but their names are still lit up. They’re either further away or haven’t seen the messages yet.”
Riley had a clear picture of the situation now.
“Tell them to stay put. Find a safe spot and wait for us.”
RedBean sent the reply immediately.
At that moment, an ape dropped from the ceiling straight for RedBean.
Hanna spun and fired. Her bolt struck its hind leg but failed to knock it down.
RedBean raised her crossbow, but she was already too late.
Riley flicked her wrist and threw her axe.
The spinning blade slammed into the ape’s chest, knocking it off its airborne trajectory. The monster crashed hard into the stone wall before dropping to the ground.
RedBean followed up with a quick shot, driving her bolt straight through the ape’s eye socket.
She huffed out a breath. “Thanks.”
Riley gestured, and her flying axe spun back into her hand.
“Keep messaging them.”
RedBean nodded, her fingers flying across the system interface nonstop.
The skirmish dragged on for nearly ten minutes.
In the end, more than 20 shelled apes swarmed their position.
Hope Guild had the numbers and superior gear, yet multiple members still took injuries.

The front shield tanks had numb arms from blocking heavy impacts. Two crossbowmen got tackled to the ground once. Hanna
bore three fresh claw slashes across her shoulder.
Even so, the team held tight formation. They’d stocked up on potions and bandages before entering Floor 9, so no one fell in battle.
Riley pinned the last shelled ape to a stone pillar with a single axe strike.
Silence fell over the tunnel once more.
No one relaxed right away.
LoneWolf took two members to sweep the walls and ceiling first, making sure no second ambush waited in the shadows.
Hanna pulled all injured members to the rear and tended to their wounds quickly.

RedBean tallied their losses.
“We used five low–grade recovery potions, six rolls of bandages, and over 40 crossbow bolts. Three people with minor injuries, one with moderate injuries. No one left behind.”
Bruce crouched down to sort the drops, a surprised look on his face.
“The loot’s way better than Floor 8’s.”
Materials scattered across the ground.
Broken hard shell fragments, sharp ape claws, dried tendons, Frost Tokens, and multiple toot crates. A few strange small drops lay
mixed in as well.
Bruce picked up a pair of pale white beast ears, looking confused.
“Is this also crafting material?”
Riley took it and checked the system description.
The text was short and straightforward.
