The bracers weren’t on the same level as Riley’s toptier gear, but for regular guild members, a purple epic item was a massive combat boost. It was built for frontline fights, perfect for shield tanks and melee fighters.

Riley checked the stats but didn’t assign it right away.

Put it in the temporary guild loot pool. Once we regroup with LoneSparrow’s team, we’ll give it to whoever fits best.

No one objected.

Hope Guild had always followed strict loot rules. Items that boosted team survival went to the frontline first. Anything nonurgent got logged and sorted later.

RedBean stored the ShellShatter Bracers and updated the temporary loot list.

We don’t know how many tokens these exchange vouchers will get us, but we’ve got a good stack. If Felix’s group fought mobs too, they should have drops of their own.

Riley asked, Any new updates from LoneSparrow?

RedBean glanced at her comm panel.

They found a corner chokepoint to hold. No monsters are closing in for now.

LoneSparrow said they’ve fought five or six mob waves since they spawned. They’ve been running and hiding nonstop.

He told us there was a broken stone bridge south of the white mineral wall. The collapsed goddess statue is right past it. We haven’t spotted the mineral wall yet, but the roots and mushroom lamps here match his description. We’re definitely in the same

zone.

LoneWolf returned from scouting ahead.

The left tunnel’s covered in white mineral shell. The right side’s thick with roots. I saw drag marks and claw prints on the right, so it’s more active. Left side’s quieter.,

Riley looked at RedBean.

LoneSparrow’s camp is right by the white wall,Red Bean said. Left tunnel’s the better route.

Hanna frowned. Quieter doesn’t mean safe.

We’ll move slowly,Riley said.

She slipped one of her twin axes back to her waist and kept the other in hand.

New formation from here on out. No splitting up. Two shield tanks front and center. Agile fighters on left and right flanks. Crossbowmen take turns watching the ceiling. Mark every intersection we pass. RedBean, keep comms live and check LoneSparrow’s position every 15 minutes.

Got it.

The team regrouped and advanced into the left tunnel.

-No one let their guard down this time.

The first mob wave on Floor 9 had made one thing clear. These threats weren’t just stronger versions of Floor 8’s monsters. They used the terrain to ambush players, had far tougher defenses, and attacked from unpredictable angles.

Even with solid gear and numbers on their side, Hope Guild couldn’t afford to rush blindly.

The terrain shifted more obviously as they moved forward

White mineral shells spread across the stone floor, crunching softly underfoot. Some sections of the shell were thin and cracked at the slightest touch.

Other parts were hard as solid armor. The twisted roots thinned out, replaced by layers of pale bonewhite crystals bulging outward from the stone.

Bruce tapped the wall with his dagger, knocking loose a few tiny fragments.

Looks like ore, but I don’t know if we can harvest it.

Riley shook her head.

No largescale gathering for now. Grab a small sample to confirm the material, mark the location, and come back later if we have

extra time.

Finding their teammates came first.

No amount of resources was worth delaying the reunion.

After moving a few hundred yards, faint scuttling sounds echoed from up ahead.

Riley raised a hand at once.

The team halted.

Hordes of whiteshell rats poured out from cracks in the mineral walls and floor.

They were far larger than regular rats, with thin, hard shells covering their backs and faint gray dots for eyes. A single rat posed little threat, but they swarmed in massive numbers, rushing straight for the team’s ankles.

Don’t let them swarm the backline.

Riley held her position and let the frontline lock down the fight.

Swarmtype mobs were deadly only if the formation broke.

Shield tanks planted their shields on the ground and blocked the first rush. Backline crossbowmen saved their highgrade bolts, using regular arrows and short spears to clear the small foes.

Hanna took two members to wipe out the densest clusters. LoneWolf kept a sharp eye out for larger monsters hiding within the

Swarm.

These whiteshell rats had surprisingly strong bites. Their teeth left clear marks even on bluegrade armor.

One guild member barely dodged a bite aimed at his pant leg, kicking the rat away in time. A teammate finished it off before it
