Chapter 537 First Contact
The team murmured their acknowledgment.
Riley stepped straight into the glowing barrier.
White light swallowed her vision.
When she opened her eyes again, the air felt completely different.
This time, the teleportation didn’t split the group up. The entire team materialized inside a wide storre corridor, spread dozen yards from front to back.
The second they landed, frontline shield bearers locked formation. Crossbowmepraised their weapons and scanned for LoneWolf glided toward the side, then crouched behind broken stone to scout the area.
Floor 10’s environment was nothing like Floor 9.
The original stone structure still remained, but the ground was no longer covered purely by white mineral shells and mus lamp’s.
Large patches of dark green moss now spread across the floor, creeping along tile cracks like flowing water. The surface fe underfoot.
Withered vine tendrils clung to the walls. Small black fruits hung from their ends. The husks looked shriveled, and somethi inside rattled faintly with every small movement.
Broken chains dangled from the upper corridor. One end vanished/into the shadowed ceiling, leaving no trace of what it on
aloft.
The air hung thick and damp.
Hanna glanced down at the moss at their feet and warned everyone.
“Avoid the darkest patches. Something could be hiding there.”
Bruce planted his shield on the ground to test traction.
“It’s slippery. Watch your step, everyone.”
“Floor 9 was all mushrooms and white rock. Floor 19 just looks like a rotting swamp field,” Felix muttered.

LoneWolf crouched down and touched a patch of moss. He immediately wiped his hand hard on his pants, his face twisted with disgust.
“No way I’m tending this fieid. It’s gross. Even treants would quit on the spot.”
Hanna shot him a sideways look.
“Do you really have to wipe everything on your pants?”
LoneWolf sounded unapologetic.

“Gear cleans itself anyway. Might as well.”
Hanna said flatly, “You really don’t care about your image at all.”
LoneWolf’s tone turned innocent.
“It’s called being approachable.”
A few members of the team chuckled softly.
Riley scanned their surroundings. No monsters were rushing toward them yet. She activated her comm card.
This time, the lit-up names on the list were different from the ones she saw on Floor 9.
Riley checked Nobody and ToxicReaper first.
Neither of their status lights were on.
Her brows dipped slightly.
RedBean saw it too and lowered her voice.
“They’re not online.”
They’d arrived on Floor 10 more than ten hours ago, yet they were completely out of comm range.
There were only a few possibilities.
They were trapped in a signal-blocked zone.
They’d already advanced to the next floor.
Or…

Riley stopped herself before she could think the worst.
She continued scrolling the list and froze.
NorthWind’s light was active.
RedBean saw that too. “NorthWind!”
Hope Guild’s spirits lifted at once.
NorthWind used to be the vice leader of the Icefield Drifters Alliance. He’d taken over as leader after Southwind died. When the alliance’s remaining members merged into Hope Guild, he stayed behind to oversee new recruit assessments
His gear was solid, so surviving Floor 10 wasn’t out of the question for him.
More importantly, making contact meant they had another group to reunite with.
RedBean sent a status inquiry immediately.
NorthWind replied right away, clearly just as relieved.

“I have 18 people with me, most Hope Guild new recruits. We’re resting in a safe hollow nook. The entrance is narrow, easy to
and defend.
“Minor injuries on a few, two moderately wounded. No deaths. Location reference: west of the Broken Chain Hall, three half-b stone statues, dark green moss covering the ground. Hostile spawns here are Vine Armor beasts and Chain Puppets. We have map.”
RedBean read the message aloud for the whole team.
