Walter finished reading the proposal and found it genuinely interesting. He closed the folder and looked up, meeting Audrey’s hopeful gaze.
“So, what do you think, Mr. Wilson?” she asked, her voice filled with anticipation.
Walter smiled. “Jordan Smith really came prepared this time.”
Audrey grinned, her eyes dancing with amusement. “Of course. Jordan’s always reasonable when he’s in a good mood. But if he gets upset, trust me, nobody wants to mess with him.”
Walter nodded, not giving an opinion on that. Instead, he shifted back to business. “From what I can see, this partnership would be a big win for The Wilson Family. I’m definitely open to it. Still, I’m not the only one making decisions here. I’ll need to meet with the other shareholders before I can give you a final answer.”
With that reply, Audrey knew things were already halfway settled. She offered a soft smile. “Take your time, Mr. Wilson. I’ll be waiting to hear from you.”
Then she hesitated, flashing him a mischievous look. “By the way, it’s my first time in Harrisburg. Since you’re the host, would it be too much to ask you to take me out for a meal?”
She was clearly seizing the opportunity for a little personal benefit. Walter didn’t mind at all. In fact, he thought her request made perfect sense.
“That sounds fair,” he said easily. “Would dinner work? I have a lunch meeting with a client, and it’s too late to cancel.”
Audrey’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Dinner is perfect. But, Mr. Wilson, can I take that to mean you’ll show me around a bit too? I mean, it’s my first time here. You wouldn’t turn me down, would you?”
Her playful, clever attitude made Walter want to laugh. He suddenly remembered how, back in Cabinda, she’d acted the same way. Later, he realized she had been helping her brother and Camila Davis get some alone time together. The funny thing was, Audrey never pushed too hard. She always gave others a choice, so it was impossible to be annoyed with her.
