Has she really let go of everything now?
Walter Wilson finally admitted, “When she first left for Cabinda, I cared a lot. I kept wondering, after everything we’d been through, how could she still not see me? But eventually, I figured it out. I guess we just weren’t meant to be.
Camila and I, we’re better as business partners, friends, maybe even confidants, but not as a couple. And honestly, after seeing how much Dennis Williams cares for her, I was able to let go of those last stubborn feelings. I think loving someone isn’t about holding on. It’s about wanting the best for them. If she’s happy, that’s enough for me, even if her happiness comes from Dennis Williams.
I don’t have those kinds of feelings for her anymore. All I want is for her to be happy. Camila’s been through so much in the past, so many heartbreaks and unfair moments. Now that she has Dennis, I just hope she can finally be happy, that everything she wishes for comes true…”
Every word from Walter was honest and sincere. The pain and regret he’d once felt back in Cabinda had faded with time. Now, he saw Camila more like Lillian, like family. He really didn’t feel hurt anymore. Like he said, as long as Camila is happy, that’s all that matters. Seeing her find her person, he truly felt happy for her.
Audrey Williams felt her worries melt away as she listened to him. She grinned and said, “Walter, you really are such a good guy. I knew I had good judgment. I admire you so much!”
She couldn’t help it. She really liked him.
Audrey’s feelings were always right there on the surface, lively and real. She threw her arms around him, hugging him tight.
Walter froze in place, stiff as a board, totally caught off guard. “What are you…”
What was she up to?
Audrey knew exactly what was running through his mind, but she didn’t care at all. She was just so happy, and liking him even more felt like a bonus. She nuzzled her head against his chest, breathing in the warm, woodsy scent of his cologne. Then she looked up at him with a beaming smile. “I’m just giving you a reward! Doesn’t a great guy like you deserve one?”
Of course, she was also rewarding herself, but Audrey would never admit that part.
Walter couldn’t help but laugh. “Are you sure this is a reward and not just you taking advantage of me?”
Audrey’s grin grew even bigger. “Oh, you caught me? I totally am taking advantage. Walter, you’re so handsome, and you’ve got a great body, too. I’m the one who’s making out like a bandit here!”
She said it like it was the most natural thing in the world, so bold and unapologetic.
He carefully placed a thick coat around her shoulders. “Keep this on until we get to the registration office, then you can take it off.”
“Okay!” Camila answered, her eyes shining with happiness as she looked at him.
Dennis was dressed up too, in a perfectly tailored suit that made him look even more striking. Because today was their wedding day, he’d actually styled his hair, and the gel made every strand look just right. Already handsome, now he looked absolutely flawless.
Camila couldn’t look away.
“Let’s go,” Dennis said softly, reaching for her hand. Their fingers intertwined, and they walked out together.
The registration office was their destination. This time, it was just the two of them. No friends, no family tagging along. The staff had already been notified. As soon as they arrived, someone led them in to take their marriage photo.
In the picture, they looked perfect together, like they belonged in a fairytale.
