Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 904

They hadn't even had dinner before she was tossed and turned by a certain man for hours.

Even with her famously good temper, Camila finally snapped. She slapped his shoulder in protest. "How could you?!"

Dennis sounded utterly innocent. "Didn't you say I could do whatever I wanted once we got home?"

Her voice was raw. Camila looked at him, feeling wronged. "That was conditional, okay?!" After teasing her relentlessly in the car, he had devoured her the moment they got home and then kept going. Who does that?

Dennis wrapped his arms around her, his voice a lazy drawl. "My mistake. I apologize. But, sweetheart, could you try to focus? Just one more time, and I'll let you go."

"N—"

All of Camila's protests were swallowed by his kiss. What little clarity she had left was quickly dragged back under by the waves of passion he created.

She couldn't for the life of her figure out why a simple "I love you" had such a devastating effect. It seemed she'd have to avoid saying it in the future, or she might not survive.

Camila's energy was completely drained. In the end, she skipped dinner and fell asleep in a state of utter exhaustion.

Dennis held her, gazing at her sweet, wronged face. He gently wiped a stray tear from the corner of her eye, his expression softening into pure tenderness.

How could his Camila be so endearing? She would never know that tonight's fierce passion was fueled entirely by the possessiveness lurking in his heart.

She was too oblivious to notice anything.

Dennis could see that Jordan Smith’s actions were a clear sign he had finally recognized her worth and wanted her back. He could have ignored it, but then the man had the audacity to claim he only pitied her.

How laughable. If this was pity, would he love her so much he couldn't get enough, wanting to cherish every bone in her body? That fool Jordan Smith would never understand the preciousness of his Camila. And he certainly didn't deserve to win her back.

Camila watched, feeling a mix of pride and emotion. Her little girl was truly amazing, with an incredible knack for winning people over.

The morning flew by in a flurry of activity. In the afternoon, the concert finally began, and the audience started to file in. Given Isabella's fame and the fact that this was her first concert since retiring, the crowd was filled not only with music lovers but also with many well-known industry professionals and high-society patrons. The ten-thousand-seat venue was completely sold out.

Just then, Old Mr. Williams, along with Melissa George and Jerry Davis, who had rushed back to Cabinda, arrived backstage. The three of them had come prepared with flowers for Lillian and Isabella, wishing them a successful performance.

Soon after, the concert officially began.

Lillian had been studying with Isabella for nearly a year, but Camila still felt a knot of anxiety in her stomach. This was Lillian's first time on such a grand stage. Would she get stage fright? Would she make a mistake in front of so many people?

Even after taking her seat, Camila found her hands unconsciously clenched into tight fists. Dennis noticed and gently took her hand, lacing his fingers through hers to keep her from digging her nails into her own palms.

"Don't worry," he soothed. "She'll be fine."
