Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 919

Dennis Williams smirked at the message, a playful glint in his eyes. So, he still hadn't given up. But no matter what tricks he tried, it would be a waste of time. No one could take her from him.

He didn't ignore it this time. His slender fingers tapped on the screen as he typed out a reply: "I'll pass your thoughts along to Camila, Mr. Smith. She's already resting for the night, so I'd appreciate your understanding."

After sending the message, Dennis set his phone aside, paying it no more mind. As long as Jordan Smith isn't a complete fool, he thought, he'll understand what that means.

Meanwhile, at The Smith Group, Jordan Smith's expression froze when he saw the message. The temperature in his executive office seemed to plummet in an instant. A surge of anger rose within him, with nowhere to go. Jordan Smith had never felt so utterly powerless. She was getting closer and closer to that man!

He remembered their time together, how he'd never even touched Camila Davis's phone. What right did that man have to reply for her? Asking him to be "understanding"? Was that a subtle way of calling him tactless?!

Jordan slammed his fist on the desk, his reason teetering on the edge.

"Sir, is everything alright?" Nathan Gates, hearing the noise from outside, rushed in, thinking something was wrong. But he was met with the sight of Mr. Smith's thunderous expression. What now? he wondered.

Jordan was feeling agitated and impatient. He had never imagined that pursuing someone could be so difficult and frustrating. His already limited patience was nearly exhausted.

Seeing Nathan, Jordan asked with a grim face, "Is there a shortcut? A quick way to get Camila back?"

The words struck Jordan like a bolt of lightning, stunning him. He was right. Camila had chased after him for five years, showering him with care and affection, even when all she received in return was his cold shoulder. And what did she get for all that devotion?

In that moment, Jordan finally understood what it felt like when someone's heart wasn't with you. Everything you did was futile. Just like back then, when he had taken her kindness and gentle care for granted, never once truly seeing her.

After Sandra Taylor returned, he had been even harsher, treating her with cold disdain and repeatedly blaming her for things without reason, even dragging Lillian into it. When Sandra had framed them, he had stood by Sandra's side...

What he was going through now was nothing compared to that. Realizing this, Jordan's confidence in winning Camila back plummeted even further.
