Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 937

Camila smiled. “It went very well. I thought it might be awkward, but Grandpa Williams is very easy to talk to now, and quite chatty.”

“That’s good,” Dennis said, thinking to himself that his warning to the old man not to give Camila a hard time had paid off.

“But there’s something else…” Camila hesitated for a moment before continuing. “We ran into Cynthia Lee as we were leaving.”

Dennis’s tone remained calm. “Was there a conflict?”

“No, not really,” Camila said, shaking her head. “It’s just… about your engagement to her. Grandpa Williams said he’s meeting with her family tomorrow to talk about it. Will that be difficult to handle?”

After all, the Lee family was one of Cabinda’s most prominent households. With the engagement being called off, Camila was worried about what price Dennis might have to pay.

Dennis, however, sounded completely unconcerned. “It won’t be difficult at all.”

To him, it wasn’t even an issue. He didn’t give much thought to families like the Lees. Everything came down to interests, and as long as the price was right, any problem could be solved. Cabinda was a complex web of tangled power and influence, with fierce rivalries simmering beneath a polished surface. Not everyone had the kind of power he commanded. While the Lees might seem untouchable to others, to him, they were just another family.

Sensing her anxiety, Dennis reassured her, “You don’t need to worry about it. Let my grandfather handle it. If he can’t, I’ll take care of it when I get back.”

Lillian beamed. “Did you hear that, Daddy?”

Dennis’s voice was full of warmth and laughter. “I heard. I miss you both too. I’ll finish things up here as soon as I can and come home. I’ll bring you gifts.”

Camila’s heart felt full and sweet. This was the kind of marriage she had always dreamed of—filled with warmth, affection, and anticipation. If she could marry Dennis Williams, she knew they would be incredibly happy.

While the small family shared a sweet, loving phone call, a storm was brewing on the other side of town. Cynthia Lee had just arrived home, her emotions finally reaching their breaking point.
