Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 955

On the way back, Camila couldn't get Cynthia Lee’s expression out of her head. She had seen it clearly—a look so venomous it was almost terrifying. It was hard to imagine such a look coming from a refined lady of a prominent family.

Seeing her staring silently out the window, Dennis leaned closer, gently lifting her chin to kiss her lips. “Camila, are you angry?”

Camila snapped back to the present and shook her head. “No! What’s there to be angry about? You didn’t do anything wrong.” She sighed. “I just didn’t expect Cynthia Lee to be so persistent, to the point of behaving so… outrageously.”

Dennis had never encountered anyone quite like Cynthia either. He couldn't comprehend it, nor did he want to. He pulled Camila closer, letting her rest against him. “Don’t pay her any mind. We won’t have anything to do with her in the future.”

Camila looked up at him. “Will that really be enough to stop her?”

Dennis chuckled softly. “Of course. As long as I refuse to see her, no amount of persistence will get her anywhere. Aunt Charlotte knew that, which is why she made that agreement with them in the first place.”

When Dennis was in the military, his identity and whereabouts were kept secret. He had only stopped deliberately concealing his movements after returning to Cabinda. Even so, it wasn't easy for the average person to get a meeting with him, let alone someone he actively wanted to avoid. No matter what schemes Cynthia concocted, she wouldn't even be able to get close.

Even at mandatory social events, he would ensure she never had another opportunity to speak to him. The so-called engagement between them had now reached a breaking point.

However, for the elder Mr. Williams’s sake, Dennis was willing to give the Lee family one last chance.

He glanced at the front seat and instructed Aaron, “Later, have someone deliver the prepared file to the Lee family. I hope they understand my meaning.”

Dennis didn't press for details. It was a matter for the institute; if it were something the public could know, it would have been announced. The lack of an announcement meant the situation was still uncertain, and discussing it would only cause trouble.

But Dennis knew that diving into that field of research would be incredibly demanding. He looked at Camila, his eyes full of tenderness. “Just do your best. Don't push yourself too hard.”

He knew that once Camila took on a task, she would pour all her energy into perfecting it.

Camila shook her head. “It’s not hard at all.”
