Chapter 932 Steamy Tension
Even after taking his medication, the side effects lingered heavily, and his stomach was still unsettled. Harold helped him “Come on, Dad’s got you.”
Claudia followed them out, leaving just Dolores and Harvey in the room.
“Are you going in the water?” Dolores asked, her cheeks fatally flushed.
Harvey tapped a light rhythm against his thigh. “I’d like to.”
He wanted to go in with her.
“Oh.” She nodded quietly.
A soft, understanding smile passed between them, and for a moment neither spoke.
Dolores finished her snack and drew her cardigan a little tighter around her shoulders.
“Weren’t you supposed to be at the office today? How did you manage to get away?” She glanced at him, unable to fully hide nervousness.
“I wanted to see you.”
The corners of her lips lifted slightly. For a moment, Harvey seemed almost boyish.
“I should go change soon. They said there’s something happening tonight. Did you book a room? Maybe you should head back a rest first-we can meet up again later.”
Harvey shook his head. “Didn’t book one. Everything’s full.”
“Huh? Then… where will you…”
Why would he drive all the way up without a reservation? It was a two-hour trip. Dolores briefly wondered if he could crash with someone, but Harvey usually stayed in a suite by himself.
Last time he’d had to settle for a cheap motel, he’d been miserable enough. She couldn’t exactly ask him to share with Henrietta.
Harvey rose slowly. “Let’s go to your room. I’ll rest there for a bit.”
“That’s not really appropriate,” she mumbled, pressing her lips together.
Harvey’s gaze held her steadily. “I’m not going to bite. Come on.”
Feeling flustered under his look, she stood up, and they walked to the elevator together.
“What’s there to be nervous about? We’re engaged,” Harvey said, glancing down at her. “You used to be braves. How many times have we shared a room before?”
“That was different. Back then I thought of you like a brother.”
“Brother…” He let out a low chuckle. “Sure, you can call me that if you want.”
Dolores hugged herself lightly. “You’re the one who told me before that even engaged couples shouldn’t get too close too soon.”
Harvey frowned. Back when she was seeing Carson, he’d given her plenty of warnings about boundaries. Now his own words wer being tossed back at him.
“That’s because he wasn’t right for you. He’s nothing like me.”
She didn’t back down. “Well, I still don’t want to seem too easy. Unless-”
“Unless what?”
The elevator doors slid open. Dolores hurried out, heading down the hall toward her rooth, anxious that Damian or someone else next door might spot them.
