Chapter 929 Morning Routines
Harold didn’t like the sound of that. “If your uncle ends up getting married, he’ll probably be too wrapped up in his own life to have time for you.”
“Isn’t that exactly how you used to be?” Harvey shot back, not holding back.
“Move,” Harold brushed him off, handing the medicine over to Claudia.
Claudia found their back-and-forth amusing. She knew kids had a hard time resisting treats, and while Harvey hadn’t given Zander much, even that little bit had been enough to upset his stomach.
Zander obediently took the bowl from Claudia and downed the medicine in one go.
“Thanks for taking care of him,” Harvey said to Claudia.
“No problem at all,” she replied with a warm smile.
“So you’re taking him for the night, right?” Harold pressed.
“Never mind,” Harvey tried to slip away, but Harold grabbed his arm.
“Harvey, you’re responsible for this.”
Harold lifted Zander from Claudia’s arms and practically deposited him into Harvey’s, then tossed out two chilly words, “Good night.”
Claudia’s cheeks flushed-the phrasing could easily be misinterpreted-and she started to protest, but Harold didn’t pay any attention.
He could only watch as Harold led Claudia upstairs.
The sick little boy dozed quietly against Harvey’s shoulder, already half-asleep.
With no other choice, Harvey carried Zander up to his room and tucked him into bed.
By the time Harvey finished washing up, Zander was already sound asleep.
Lying next to him, Harvey checked his phone, lingering on the text thread with Dolores. He wondered if she was asleep already.
It was pretty late-would messaging her now come off as rude?
While he hesitated, Zander shifted in his sleep, rolling right on top of him.
Harvey chuckled softly, picked up his phone, and snapped a quick picture to send to Dolores.
“You still up? Zander got diarrhea from the ice cream today. You feeling okay?”
Dolores didn’t reply right away, so Harvey figured she must have dozed off.
But at that very moment, Dolores was curled under her blankets, zooming in on the photo Harvey had sent.
She couldn’t tell if it was intentional or just a casual shot, but aside from Zander’s little head resting against him, the frame was filled with Harvey’s bare chest.
In the soft, dim light, the lines of his muscles were clearly visible.
He really knows how to pick an angle.
Staring at a half-naked man this late at night made her face grow warm instantly.
She couldn’t help but laugh to herself-Harvey was like a peacock showing off his feathers.
“I’m fine,” she typed back.
Zander was still little, and even though he hadn’t eaten much, his stomach wasn’t very strong. He’d just have to ride it out.
