"Hush, just eat your snacks."

"Mom, you're driving into the ditch!"

"There are no ditches here. Just be quiet."

"That's not how Dad drives!"

Mia's head started pounding again. "Henry, you are an absolute menace!"

Henry pouted, his little face turning stormy. "At noon you said I was your little angel!"

That evening, Andre came home.

He found his wife and son sitting on opposite ends of the living room. Henry was crunching on shrimp chips, his little teeth snapping loudly, while Mia sat in absolute silence, replaying all her driving mistakes from the day.

Since the little guy had been properly bribed, his lips were sealed. When Andre asked, "Henry, what did you do this afternoon?"

Munching away, Henry replied, "I'm not telling Dad."

Andre sat next to Mia, taking her hand and playing with her fingers. If they had been back at Maplewood Estates, he would have already pulled her onto his lap.

Hearing his rebellious son, Andre raised an eyebrow. "Are you trying to pick a fight?"

Mia, siding with her son for once, looked at her husband. "He's a growing boy. Isn't it normal for him to keep things to himself?"

Taking the brunt of his wife's inexplicable mood, Andre asked, "What's going on?"

Mia waved Henry over. "Come here, sweetie."

Henry immediately hopped off the sofa and ran to his mother.

Henry continued munching. "I wouldn't have run if Dad hadn't threatened to spank me!"

With their son gone again, Andre couldn't be bothered to argue.

He was a boy—missing a day of lotion wouldn't kill him. Besides, even if he grew up rough around the edges, men relied on their capabilities, not their looks.

So, paying no more mind to his little troublemaker, Andre got ready to head upstairs.

Mia pieced together the morning's events. Looking at the two of them, she couldn't decide who was actually at fault.

"Anyway, Henry, next time your dad washes your face, you better behave. And Andre, try to have a little more patience. Deal?"

Henry's bright eyes darted to his stern-faced father. If Dad didn't agree, he wouldn't either. Hmph!
