Even her phone case was custom-made with her grandson's picture.
If she hadn't seen him in a few days, she would call her daughter just to ask, "Does Wayne miss Grandma?"
"Wayne has his brother. Why would he miss anyone else?" Molly would reply.
Since Wayne had been dragged to the office without his winter coat, his CEO grandmother immediately launched into a nagging lecture.
Then, she scooped him up and carried him into her office. Even though the building was perfectly warm, she insisted on wrapping him in her own heavy coat.
"Grandma," Wayne squeaked.
"Yes, sweetie? What is it?" Coleen asked affectionately.
"I'm hot," Wayne replied, enunciating clearly.
The heating in the building was cranked up high, so there was no way he was cold. After a few minutes in his grandmother's office, he wiggled free and trotted out to find his mother, navigating the hallways with surprising accuracy.
It wasn't long before Coleen swooped in and carried him right back.
Meanwhile, Mia finally woke up, eating breakfast and lunch all at once.
Henry, munching on the snacks his mom had given him the day before, stood next to the dining table. Barely tall enough to see over the edge, he looked up at her. "Mom, are we doing the car thing again today?"
Mia immediately shot a paranoid glance behind him. "Keep your voice down."
Henry pouted, leaning in to whisper his question again.
Mia sighed. "You play with your toys, and I'll do my thing. We won't bother each other, okay?" She picked up a piece of meat with her fork and offered it to him.
