Naomi had been the first to figure out that Mia was secretly practicing her driving. Ever the worrier, if she didn't see the kids for a while, she assumed they were playing hide-and-seek somewhere in the house.

Indoors was fine, but if they were outside in the cold, she couldn't help but fret.

So, Naomi had gone out looking for them.

Her search led her to the sight of a car moving at a suspiciously slow pace. She watched as her sister-in-law stepped out to check the distance from the curb, while the little tiger cub hung out the window yelling, "Mia, you're doing it wrong!"

Knowing Henry was with his mom put Naomi at ease. She knew he was perfectly safe in Mia's care, so she didn't worry.

After watching Mia struggle with her maneuvers for a few minutes, Naomi quietly turned around and headed back inside without interrupting their secret.

Armed with their matching thermos bottles, mother and son returned to their practice spot.

In the dead of winter, the sun set early. By five o'clock, the sky was already dark.

When Andre arrived home, his first instinct was to look for them. "Mia, Henry, I'm home!"

Outside, mother and son were walking hand in hand, playfully stepping on each other's shadows. Henry bounced happily, completely unafraid of falling as long as his mother held his hand.

They were having a blast.

As soon as they saw Andre, Mia let go, and Henry sprinted toward his father. Just as he reached him, the little boy leaped into the air. Andre caught him effortlessly, swinging him up into a tight hug.

"What did you two do today?" Andre asked, brushing a hand against his son's cold, rosy cheeks.

"Mom taught me how to box!" Henry declared proudly.

"Did she practice driving?" Andre probed.

Sensing danger, Mia quickly interrupted. "Honey, are you off work tomorrow?"

Andre looked at his wife's nervous, guilty expression and nodded. "Tomorrow I'm taking Henry to the fencing club. Want to come with us?"

Mia shook her head. "I can't. I have plans."
