Lizzy was completely traumatized, crying so hard she couldn't be consoled. Conner was just as shaken, holding her tightly as he tried to calm her down.
When Annie got home, she found Lizzy still sniffling, and later that night, the toddler woke up screaming in terror.
Annie immediately interrogated her husband. "Confess. What did you do?"
Under the intense scrutiny of his police-officer wife, Mr. Nettleton cracked and confessed to everything.
He was banished from the bedroom in the middle of the night. Annie held her daughter close, terrified of what could have happened.
No one loved Lizzy more than Conner, yet both times she had been hurt, it had been his fault.
Finally, preschool started, and Mia couldn't have been happier.
"Mommy, don't celebrate yet. You have school too, and you still have to go to that place to see me!" Henry said, sitting at the dining table in his uniform, pointing a little finger at his mother.
"My classes start later. You go find your buddies first."
Once he was dropped off at school, the entire house suddenly fell silent.
Andre felt completely out of his element. It was way too quiet.
Wayne even tagged along to visit Henry's school. Henry proudly held his little brother's hand as they walked down the hall. "Hey, tiger! Who's this? Your new friend?"
Henry enthusiastically introduced Wayne. Listening to his brother effortlessly switch to English, Wayne looked confused. "Brother, I don't understand."
His older brother had "studied abroad" and had tutors surrounding him constantly. Plus, Henry was a fast learner. As a result, Wayne was struggling to keep up with his brother's progress.
"This is Swift. He's my friend."
