Aslan’s eyes widened, and his whole body tensed. “So you’re saying Sylvara is inside that aircraft?”

Blake’s lips twitched into a smile. “That’s what my gut tells me.”

“Then it must be her.” Aslan suddenly raised his voice. “You have no idea-my mentor spent over a billion stellar coins on her, just to make sure she’d have something to use against me.

“If she’s got the latest aircraft, then it’s for sure got a jamming system built in. That’s definitely her.”

Blake pushed up his sunglasses.

He was just about to praise Aslan when the warship’s engine suddenly sputtered.

Then, with a bang, the engine blew out, shattering one of the warship’s windows.

Blake’s face darkened as he tried to steer the warship in another direction.

But the warship didn’t budge—instead, a thick green vine, as wide as an arm, started dragging it downward.

If it hit the ground, it would explode. Blake’s expression shifted, and he threw open the copilot window, kicking Aslan out without hesitation.

Aslan was totally caught off guard, letting out an undignified scream as he tumbled out of the warship.

Thick branches cushioned his fall, but his mental energy couldn’t react in time. He crashed through the branches and hit the ground face-first, eating straight dirt.

“Gah! Pft-pft-pft!”

He spat out a mouthful of dirt and was still trying to wipe the mud from his lips when he felt a sudden weight on his ankle. A green vine, about the thickness of a finger, wrapped around it.

In an instant, he was yanked upside down, dangling by his ankle.

He scrambled for his knife from his space button, ready to cut the vine loose.

Smack!

Another vine whipped his hand, leaving a red mark and knocking his knife to the ground.

That vine, as nimble as a snake, wound from his ankle all the way up to his head.

It left just his nose exposed so he could breathe. The rest of him was wrapped up like a mummy. He was unable to make a sound, squirming like a worm being held upside down.

Up in the sky, the warship’s engine exploded.

Blake threw open the hatch and jumped out with a long knife in hand, slashing at the green vine pulling down the warship.

But the vine moved like it had eyes. Just as Blake’s blade was about to hit, the vine snapped back, letting go of the warship.

Freed from the vine, the warship dropped from the sky into the forest below, crashing with a loud boom.

Blake missed the vine. As he fell, he was caught by an infisible force at the treetop, setting him gently on the branches instead of letting him crash.

Inside the pitch-black aircraft, Veyric whispered, “Sylvie, did you just drag down their warship and blow it up? Did General Kenobia get blown up in there?”

Don’t do this to me.

I really couldn’t handle something like that.

If General Kenobia actually died in there—the King, the Empress, and my idol-none of them would ever forgive me.

If that were to happen, getting exiled to a wasteland planet would be a luxury.

They might torture me old-school style, like in ancient Earth, ntil I lost my mind.
