Chapter 216 The Brightest Star
Sylvara dragged Aslan up like a dead weight and tied him up to the top of the aircraft.

The moment the aircraft lifted off and hovered in the air, the forest below came alive. Dozens of mutant beasts of all sizes rushed out, as if someone had called them.
“W-what happened?” Veyric slowly woke up, rubbing the back of his head and neck. “Why does it hurt again? Did you hit me?”
Sylvara reached over and pressed her fingers on the back of his head. She gave a light squeeze, sending a thread of mental energy into him. “Why would I hit your I didn’t even dare to get out of the aircraft.”
That sliver of healing energy cased the ache in his neck and head. Veyric rolled his neck in surprise. He never expected Sylvie to be good at massaging, either.
He asked in confusion, “Didn’t dare get out? What’s going on down there? And what about the warship that is tailing us?”
Sylvara lies without a hint of guilt. “No idea where that warship went. Look for yourself. The whole place is full of mutant beasts.”
“Oh!” Veyric pushed open the aircraft window and looked down. One glance and his face changed. His voice cracked. “Holy! Sylvie, run! Go now! Before they drag us down!”
Typical. Bad luck always lands right on cue.
Veyric’s mouth had cursed them.
The moment he spoke, a giant green python shot out of the forest, jaws wide open as it lunged for the aircraft.
“You really jinxed us,” Sylvara muttered.
She jerked the controls, spinning the aircraft hard to avoid the python’s massive mouth.
Missing its bite, the huge snake let out a sharp hiss. The beasts below began roaring back, one after another.
“Sit tight!” Sylvara pushed the aircraft to full power. It shot forward like a bullet.
Veyric nearly wet himself. He patted his chest over and over, hard. “I almost passed out from fear! I thought I was done for. That thing nearly swallowed me whole!”
Sylvara rolled her eyes. “Please. With how little meat you have, you’re too tiny for it.”
Veyric, feeling thoroughly insulted, grinned anyway. “Hey, meat is still meat. At least, it won’t go hungry by devouring me!”
Sylvara lifted her brows. “Fair enough. Let’s head for the finish line and find the Strategy Department.”
“Let’s go!” Veyric answered crisply.
On top of the aircraft, Aslan finally woke up. Clouds raced past above him, making him feel like he was flying.
He tried to move but couldn’t. He tried to shout, but the green vine was still wrapped over his mouth,

All he could do was face the wind with tears in his eyes, having no idea who tied him up or where he was being taken.
The starting point and ending point of this military training were on opposite sides of a planet.
The aircraft flew at about 600 miles per hour.
The sun was hanging low in the west.
The aircraft came to a stop just under 2 miles from the nish line.
Sylvara tossed a rifle to Veyric. “There’s a gift for you on top of the aircraft. Go take him out.”
“A gift?” Veyric’s face that was covered in paint looked shocked. “When did you prepare a gift for me? How come I didn’t know about it?”
Sylvara kicked him. “Shut it. Go finish him off. It’s about 2 miles to the finish line. By the time we walk there, it’ll be dark, perfect for a sneak attack.”
The moment Veyric heard he could take down the Strategy Department, his eyes lit up with excitement. “I’m on it!”
He grabbed the rifle, tiptoed, and climbed onto the aircraft. He saw someone tied down on top. Without even checking who it was, he pressed the barrel against the person and fired.
Bang! A blank round hit the body, bursting into a puff of red smoke.
Veyric grabbed Aslan and yanked him off the aircraft.
Aslan hit the ground with a thud. His mouth was finally free, but the rest of his body was still wrapped up like a mummy. “Hurry up and untie me! A person has needs, you know!”
Sylvara flicked her fingers. The Smokewillow bindings shapped open.
Aslan flipped up from the ground and sprinted behind large tree.
Veyric stood frozen. “Sylvie, why do I feel like he looks lot like the devil from the Agriculture Department?”
