“Don’t you dare record this!” Brigan’s eyes went wide, and he spat as he shouted, “Turn it off! I said turn it off, now!”
Turn it off? No way. In fact, she was being nice for not live-streaming this.
He really thought he was someone important and pull nk in front of her?
She had been wondering how to test Blake’s loyalty.
And look at that, Brigan walked right into her trap.
Perfect.
Absolutely perfect.
Sylvara didn’t stop recording. Her voice even sounded more cheerful as she explained, “Look at him! He’s furious! See? This is what people act like when they’ve got connections. He yells, ‘I’m from the Roseblade Legion!’ and thinks he can do whatever he wants. He thinks he can boss the whole empire.”
“I told you to stop recording!” Brigan roared. He dropped Veyric and charged straight at Sylvara.
Sylvara slipped to the side. The instructors hanging by the veins suddenly lost support and crashed straight down from the mid-air.
All 34 of them fell right on top of Brigan. He didn’t even have time to dodge. They landed right on him, smashing him flat to the ground.
Veyric scrambled up from the ground. He didn’t even manage to catch his breath before rolling up his sleeves and charging in.
Sylvara flicked her fingers. A burst of invisible mental energy hit Veyric. She stood on the side cheering like it was halftime at a football game. “Go, Veyric! Don’t forget! You’re the guy who took down the commander! A tiny captain from the Roseblade Legion is nothing. Take him down!”
The mental energy slammed into Veyric and filled him with strength. Snarling, he yanked the other fallen instructors off Brigan.
Brigan tried to fight back, but Veyric grabbed his collar with one hand and swung his other fist straight into Brigan’s mouth.
Powered by Sylvara’s mental energy, the punch knocked out two front teeth and twisted Brigan’s face. Veyric then grabbed him by the waist, hoisted him up like a sack of potatoes, and slammed him onto the ground. “You lousy jerk! You think being a captain makes you special? Who gave you the right to throw around the Roseblade Legion’s name like a bully?!”
Sylvara kept recording and watching. She’d never tried to uncover Veyric’s background. At most, she’d joked to herself that he might be some rich kid from Centria.
Now he had exposed himself. Not only was he a rich kid he was probably related to an officer. Maybe even to a high general.
Brigan hit the ground with a sickening crack. His arm and leg snapped. Missing his front teeth, his words whistled through the gap as he shouted at the other instructors. “Don’t just sit there! Take him down! Hurry! He attacked a fellow officer! I’m sending him to Military Court!”

The other instructors, still on the ground, looked at each other, angry but too tired to stand. Then they all made the same hand gesture-nope. Because from each other’s eyes, they saw the truth: Brigan was a complete idiot.
Did he not hear the girl? The guy beating him up was the one who took down the commander…
They had taken down the commander and even earned Blake’s personal recommendation to join the Hunting Legion. That alone marked them as rising stars in the military. These two were true loyalists to the
crown.
Even if they had done something wrong, ganging up on them was out of line. Brigan really had no sense of judgment.
“Send me to the Military Court? Who do you think you are?” Veyric charged forward. His fists rained down on Brigan like a storm-wild, fast, and without any fixed form.
But every punch carried a sharp burst of mental energy Strong. Precise. Within moments, Brigan broke down and started begging for mercy.
Veyric didn’t even hear him. He kept going until Brigan passed out. Then he grabbed Smokewillow, wrapped Brigan up like a package, gagged him, tied him tight, and tossed him aside.
Sylvara filmed every second of his heroic moment. When she saw him coming back, she casually switched off the optical computer.
