Chapter 229 The Trap Closes
Give her bargain-bin husband a cheating scandal?
No, that wasn’t it.
Sylvara’s eyes shifted to Issac, who was holding up Mirays.
It was obvious what had happened. Issac must have received “news” that Miralys was the princess consort. Blake went along with it and placed Miralys in Issac’s ten on purpose.
And now, seeing the way he was helping her walk.
Blake’s plan was close to success.
That woman was brutal!
Blake was unbelievably sharp, a snake with no match.
“Sylvie, how can Issac be so wicked? How did he come up with a shady trick like this?” Veyric growled, angry enough to grind his teeth. “Isaac is part of the royal family. Not a direct bloodline, but still royal. How can he do something like this?”
“Right? It’s too much. We can’t let this slide,” Sylvara agreed, already cooking up a scheme. “Alright, alright. Watch my signal later. We’ll make the whole empire see who they really are.”
Veyric’s eyes lit up. “Alright. I’m with you.”
They shared a knowing look.
Isaac’s group of five finally reached them.
Sylvara and Veyric wore military caps and instructor uniforms. Their faces were covered in camouflage paint so tightly that only their eyes showed.
The team looked right at them but didn’t recognize either of them. They cheered loudly, “We made it! We finally made it to the finish line!”
“Right on time! We didn’t get eliminated! We’re the winners of this military training!”
“Yeah! A bunch of students from the First Military Academy didn’t beat us. We’re the pride of the Fifth Military Academy! We’re the ones who keep the Fifth Academy’s name shining!”
The pride of the Fifth Military Academy?
For kids this young, their skin sure was thick.
Their confidence was off the charts.
Smack! Smack! Smack! Sylvara hit the table beside with her baton. With her other hand, she lifted her optical computer to check the time. Her voice dropped old and declared coldly, “Military training ends in thirty seconds. You can keep shouting if you want. After it ends, you won’t need to sign in or count your nameplates and badges anymore.”
All five shuddered in shock.
Then they panicked and rushed forward.
Five people. Three forms.
Someone would grab one, and someone would end up with nothing.
Sylvara stood off to the side and reminded them calmly “Listen up. There are only 15 seconds left before the military training ends. If any of your nameplates or badges are written wrong, they won’t count. Make sure your numbers are correct.
“Don’t make it all the way to the finish line only to lose everything over a tiny mistake. You don’t want your score wiped clean and end up being trashes.
“Hurry up and count your nameplates and badges. Don mess it up.” Isaac quickly ordered his group, “I’ll write your names and sign for you. Move!”
“Five, four, three, two, one! Time’s up!” Sylvara announced. “Sorry, everyone. Military training is officially over. You didn’t complete the task as required; please accept your punishment.” As she finished, she shot Veyric a quick wink.
Veyric, sitting on the Smokewillow stool, quietly opened his optical computer and started a Starnet livestream, pointing the camera at Isaac’s group of five.
“Punishment?” Miralys, looking messy but still oddly beautiful, questioned loudly, “There was no rule saying we’d be punished for not finishing the task!”
Norris joined in, unconvinced. “Yeah! We made it here. That means we won. Instead of letting us win, you’re punishing us? For what?”
