Chapter 240 A Series of Unfortunate Events
Just like that, Sylvara found herself a free laborer, helping her pack up sixty takeout meals.

For her bargain-bin husband’s portion, she packed it herself and added an extra apple, a bottle of juice, and
a little note.
The other sixty meals went into one large box. His meal went into a smaller one.
She watched the robot walk out the door carrying both oxes. Once the door shut, she finally turned around.
But the moment she turned, she froze. Aslan was holding the tiny black egg and tapping it against the edge of a bowl, like he was about to crack it. Her pupils tightened. “Aslan-STOP!”
Aslan jumped at her shout. His hands shook, the egg slipped, and the little black egg dropped straight toward the floor.
“ASLAN, DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH?!” Sylvara screamed.
She shot forward like lightning, trying to catch Eggy before it hit the ground.
But Eggy slid past her fingertips.
THUD! Sylvara and Eggy hit the floor at the same time.
It was over. Completely over.
The divine beast egg was broken.
Face down on the floor, Sylvara curled her hand protectively around Eggy. She lifted her head, staring up at Aslan with cold, sharp eyes. “Aslan,” she said slowly, “YOU ARE GOING TO DIE.”
Aslan stood over her with the bowl in his hands. He had no idea what egg he had almost smashed or who it belonged to.
He said lightly, like it was nothing, “Sweetheart, it’s just a wyvern egg. If it cracked, toss it out. I’ll buy you another one.”
He even lifted his foot to nudge the fallen egg.
“You’re STILL kicking it? Do you even know who gave ne this egg?” Sylvara didn’t dare touch Eggy, afraid even the slightest pressure might crack it open.
Aslan’s heart jolted in fear. His foot froze inches from Eggy. “A wyvern egg is, what, 10 stellar coins? I’ll buy you however many you want.”
Sylvara crawled closer to Eggy and checked the shell. No cracks. She let out a tiny breath. Then her eyes snapped up. “Aslan. Stand still. And don’t say I didn’t warn you. The egg you almost smashed and just dropped is from Blake.”
THUMP!
Aslan’s knees gave out. He dropped to the floor in front of Eggy. Both hands on the ground. His beautiful androgynous face drained whiter than paper. “Y-you sai…” he stammered. “You said this wyvern egg .. Who did you say it’s from?”

“Blake,” Sylvara said, pointing at the big white letters written on the shell. “You didn’t see the name? Written right there? How blind are you? And out of the thirty wyvern eggs and black eggs in that pile, you picked
this one?
“You didn’t just pick it, you tried to eat it. You were about to crack it open. Do you have any idea how brave you are? Aren’t you afraid Blake will cook you instead?”
“S-Sylvara,” Aslan’s lips trembled. “You’re lying to me, right? This isn’t really the one Blake gave you, right?”
Sylvara let out a cold, amused laugh. “Heh. You dropped it, then you tried to destroy the evidence by kicking it. And now you’re asking if I’m lying?”
Aslan’s vision went dark.
It was over. Completely over.
The little terror of an egg was broken, and he was as good as gone.
Would he even see the sunrise tomorrow?
No, he wouldn’t.
He probably wouldn’t even know how he died.
“Aslan, you’re really done for. It’s not moving at all,” Sylvara said. She kept her eyes on Eggy, confused. The round, black egg lay on the floor without a sound.
There was no crack. The shell wasn’t broken.
So, was it fine?
If it was fine, then why was it stuck to the floor like that?
Was it secretly cracked?
Would it fall apart the moment she picked it up?
Aslan shivered like someone had hit him with a club. “You said Eggy moved before?”
Sylvara’s eyes darted.
Wait-what was that supposed to mean?
Did Aslan know Blake was some rare hidden-type diving beast?
Did he know Blake could lay an egg?
