Chapter 249 Playing A Weakling
Kyre snapped his head around, frowning hard.

This aircraft wasn’t even a year old. It was a top model, and the safety chain was supposed to be heatproof, fireproof, and unbreakable. Why did it suddenly snap?
He pushed down his suspicion and said, “It’s fine. Sit tight. We’re leaving.”
To avoid any surprises, he powered up the aircraft and set it to maximum speed.
In less than an hour, they landed at the Mordrel estate.
Kyre stepped out of the aircraft and dropped his politect. He waved his hand. The guards moved in, surrounding the aircraft.
Through the window, Sylvara counted them-ten guards.
Wow. Kyre really thought highly of her to bring in an army just to take her home.
She tapped the pocket where Eggy was hiding and whispered, “Eggling, should you go first? Or should I? Or should we both play helpless and wait for your rotten mom to save us?”
Eggy shook three times.
Sylvara blinked, trying to decode the pattern. “You mean we should play helpless and wait for your mom?”
Eggy wiggled once-agreement.
Wait for Mom.
Pretend to be helpless.
Well, it wasn’t like Eggy could cook up any evil plans.
Eggy probably hoped its mom was some grand heroine who’d swoop down from the sky and rescue him.
“Alright,” she whispered. “I’ll follow your plan. Time to act helpless.” Then Sylvara opened the aircraft door and stepped out.
Instantly, all ten guards closed in around her as if she were a walking security threat who might sneeze and trigger an earthquake.
“Uncle Kyre, I came back with you. What are you doing|| Sylvara called out sweetly, switching from “Mr. Mordrel” to “Uncle Kyre.” She even shrank back a little, as if the guards truly scared her.
She looked completely intimidated.
Kyre felt a wave of satisfaction wash over him.
So this was all she really was-nothing special. He had thought she’d stay stubborn forever, refusing to bow her head. But here, on his turf, in his home, she was finally acting as he expected-quiet and obedient.
“Uncle Kyre isn’t doing anything,” he said smugly. “Just hand over your spatial button.” He stretched out his hand, no longer trying to hide his true intentions.

Sylvara pulled out one spatial button and placed it in hi palm. “Uncle Kyre, these are all my private things. They were gifts from the Level-7 Plant Healer. She gave me really good-”
She didn’t even finish the sentence before Kyre snatched the spatial button from her.
His face lit up with greedy joy. This was exactly what he wanted-everything the Level-7 Plant Healer had given her. He demanded quickly. “Do you have anything else? Hand it all over!”
Of course she did. But she’d never give him everything
One button was enough to bait him. He’d cough up something far more valuable later.
After all, she never let anyone walk away with her things without paying double the price.
“I don’t have anything else. Just this one,” Sylvara said weakly. “I’m completely broke. The money I took from Aunt Seraphine all went to the healer. She wouldnt give me fruit or teach me the recipes unless I paid.”
Kyre watched Sylvara shrink back, looking scared again just like before, too nervous even to breathe lo
That was the version of her he liked.
Only when she behaved like this could he control her and make her truly useful to the family.
“I’ll believe you this once,” Kyre said. “Go back to the room you used to stay in. You are not allowed to come out without my permission.” Then he turned to the guards surrounding her and ordered, “Escort her. If anything happens to her, every one of you will answer for it.”
All ten guards replied at the same time.
