Chapter 250 Eggy Plays Dead

Kyre marched over in long, angry strides. He hadn’t sec Eggy strike anyone. All he saw was his wife raising her hand, ready to slap Sylvara, only for her to suddenly slip and crash to the floor. A huge, nasty bump was already swelling on her forehead.
“What happened?” Kyre snapped as he stopped in front of Seraphine. His tone was full of irritation. “We’re nobles. You’re the lady of the house. Why are you sprawled on the floor like this?”
Seraphine didn’t stay down because she wanted to. Herision was blurry, with dark spots flashing everywhere. Her whole body felt hollow, as if all her strength had been sucked away. She couldn’t even lift. herself, much less stand. Even talking felt like work.
“Sylvara attacked me,” Seraphine said through clenched teeth. She forced her arm up and pointed at Sylvara. “She hit me with something.”
Eggy slid down from Sylvara’s chest to her lower stomach, hidden completely under her loose coat.
Sylvara sent out a thin thread of mental energy to hold the egg in place. Then she lifted her empty hands, looking harmless and shaken. “Aunt Seraphine, you’re my aunt,” she said, her voice choking with tears. “I’m an H-grade. Even if I wanted to hit you, I couldn’t. I don’t have that kind of power.”
She took a shaky breath and kept going. “Besides, Uncle Kyre brought me home to check my health. He said we were family. How could I ever hit you? And with so many people watching, even if I tried to hit you, there’s no way I could move so fast that no one noticed
Her hands were empty.
Her eyes were filled with fear and hurt, like a kid being falsely accused.
Kyre looked her over carefully. He didn’t see anything strange. She had no mental-energy ripple at all. She looked exactly like the useless, miserable trash he remembered.
Kyre stopped looking at her and turned back to Seraphine on the ground. When she still didn’t get up, he bent down, grabbed her hand, and yanked her upright.
But Seraphine barely lasted two seconds before her knees buckled. She toppled straight into him.
Kyre didn’t dodge in time. She crashed into him, knocking him flat.
With a loud thud, Seraphine landed on top of him. He shoved her off in frustration and barked, “Do you have no bones in your body? Can’t even stand?”
Seraphine rolled a few times like a ball before stopping. She let out a weak, trembling, “Kyre…”
Sylvara struggled not to laugh. She placed her hands over her stomach and said politely, “You two enjoy yourselves. I’m going back to my room. I know the way. No need for the guards.”
To prove she really knew the way, Sylvara dashed off like a rocket.
Kyre scrambled up, still looking messy and annoyed. When he saw Sylvara running toward the small villa she used to live in, he turned and barked at the ten stunned guards. “What are you waiting for? Go! Move! Don’t just stand there like a bunch of useless statues!”
The guards snapped out of it and sprinted after her.

Kyre dusted off the spot where Seraphine had slammed into him. When he no longer saw Sylvara, he shot a disgusted look toward Seraphine, still lying on the ground. “You’re still not up? What now? Want me to carry you?”
Seraphine stared up at him, terrified. The huge bruise on her forehead throbbed purple and blue. “Kyre, my mental energy is gone. I can’t move. My whole body feel empty-like someone drained every bit of strength out of me!”
Sylvara ran all the way up to the attic. It was the same age she had lived in for two months after she first arrived in this world.
It looked exactly the same as when she left, just a little dustier.
She closed the door behind her and released a thin thread of mental energy outside. If anyone came near the attic, she would know right away.
Sylvara patted the dust off the small couch and sat down
Then she loosened the belt of her coat and pulled Eggy out from where she had hidden it against her
stomach.
