“So that’s how it is.” Sylvara looked at the man who had been speaking. After finishing the document in her hand, she flicked it straight into his face with perfect aim. Stop hiding behind the taxpayers,” she said calmly. “Taxpayers want a strong country. They want their money to buy bullets, protect homes, and defend the empire.”
“You’ve been asking’ for three years,” she went on. “Three years, same excuse, and every year you cut the defense budget. Can’t you come up with something new?”
“Y-You-”
“If you can’t think of anything new,” Sylvara cut in, “then don’t cut it. Increase it. Raise it by 20 percent. I’m not here to debate with you. I’m telling you to approve it. Is that clear?”
Those military officials were stunned.
Ever since Blake stopped attending the Four-Party Meeting, the military had been pushed around every year.
The Elder Council and the Assembly had taken turns pressing them down.
No one expected that the person representing the emperor this time would be so sharp, so direct, and so overwhelming.
The Elder Council’s representatives felt their scalps go numb. Even if His Majesty himself were here, he would never be this aggressive.
This was her first appearance, and she had already sent their Chief Elder to the Supreme Court. What else would she do next?
The Assembly member who had been hit by the document felt a chill run through his body. He didn’t dare make a sound. He slowly backed away, hiding behind the others.
Everyone else instinctively turned to Ozark, the Assembly’s chief, waiting for him to push back.
“My words are very clear,” Sylvara said flatly. “Since no one objects, sign the approval for the military budget increase.” Her hand rested on Eggy as her cold gaze swept the room. “Sitting here is boring. Sign it and go home early.”
Blake glanced sideways at Traze, who stood behind her.
Without a word, Traze reached into his spatial button and pulled out a thick stack of approval forms. In heavy combat boots, he walked around the room like a teacher handing out exam papers. Everyone got one.

If someone refused, he simply folded the paper and tucked it into their pocket.
Sylvara couldn’t help but look at Traze again. Fast. Efficient. Ruthless.
That bastard really knew how to train her people.
Just not her bargain-bin husband, and then she suddenly played favorites. Typical double
standards.
Ozark held the approval form, holding back his anger toward Sylvara and turning it toward Blake instead. “General Kenobia,” he said stiffly, “What are you trying to do? What is the military’s position?”.
Blake slowly flexed her fingers and replied calmly, “The military’s position? The military is all right here. You can ask them yourself.” She paused, then added casually, “As for my position—”
By then, Traze had finished handing out the forms. Since everyone had one, he passed the last sheet to Blake.
Blake took the form. She pulled out a pen from her spatial button and signed her name in a bold, flowing hand. Her voice was calm and steady. “My position is clear,” she said. “The empire’s interests come first. We follow Imperial Law and serve the people.”
Once Blake signed, the officers from the military followed her lead. They took out their pens and signed their copies.
After signing, they spoke together, their voices firm and unified. “The empire’s interests come first. We follow Imperial Law and serve the people.”
The sound was loud and powerful. It echoed through the hall.
The twenty or so members of the Elder Council and the Assembly exchanged looks. No one moved to sign. Everyone was waiting for someone else to go first.
“General Kenobia,” Ozark said seriously, “the military budget increase must be discussed by all four parties and signed together to be legally valid. You signed without any discussion with us
“Discuss it with you? Why would we?” Sylvara stood up from her chair. She held Eggy in her left hand and slowly walked forward, her right hand gently stroking it. “I never said I wanted to discuss it with you. I said you should sign it.”
The broken pieces of the shattered table suddenly lifted from the floor. As Sylvara stepped forward, the fragments shot into the air as if alive, flying straight toward those still holding unsigned documents.
The council members had no time to dodge. In an instant, wood chips struck them one after
