“So we’re not here to eat today!” Sylvara snapped the menu shut with a loud clap. She looked at Blake, her eyes sharp. “We’re here to wreck the place?”

Blake’s voice dropped as she corrected her calmly. “Nonsense. We’re clearly here to collect money.”

Collect money?

How exactly are we supposed to do that?

Sylvara was just about to ask when her device flashed.

She looked down; it was a voice call from Agares.

Blake’s eyes were sharp as a hawk’s. She glanced over and clicked her tongue. “Oh? Your honey is calling you. What? Could this be his first time calling you?”

Sylvara clamped her mouth shut.

Screw you! That hit way too hard.

This woman knows how to hurt people.

Every jab landed right on target.

Blake studied her face and couldn’t stop smiling. She teased her without mercy. “So it really is his first calling. Wow. You’ve been flirting all this time, and it turns out the joke’s on you? All that effort, and nothing to show for it?”

Ouch! That one stung.

Sylvara grabbed Eggy on the table and raised it like a threat. “Say one more word and I’ll smash your egg.”

Blake held back her laughter, but she was fearless. She even reminded her kindly, “Pick up the call. First times are very memorable.”

She is implying things.

A dirty joke for sure.

Sylvara had proof.

Sylvara snorted proudly, put the egg back down, cleared her throat, and accepted the call. Her

voice instantly turned soft and sweet. “Honey, are you looking for me?”

Blake’s hand slipped. The tea splashed out of her cup.

What a vixen! When she acted cute, she was this sweet? No wonder Agares had turned red and hung up so fast when he realized the figures he saw on the screen belonged to his wife.

On the other end of the call, Agares paused. His voice, usually stiff and mechanical, suddenly grew tense, as if he were making a serious decision. “Y-your feet! It’s bruised.”

Sylvara fell silent.

My feet?

What’s wrong

with

my feet?

Confused, she blurted out, “No? Nothing wrong with my feet.”

Agares hesitated and explained, “I mean bruised. Your left foot. Above the second and third toes, about an inch up. That’s not a birthmark. It’s a bruise.”

Bruised?

I’m injured?

Even with her thick skin, Sylvara felt a flash of embarrassment. She slipped off her shoe and looked down. Sure enough-on her left foot, just above her second and third toes, there was a dark bruise.

She asked, “How do you know?”

Agares’s ears quietly turned red. His voice grew lower and rougher. “Y-you were lying on my bed, and you posted an explicit photo.”

An explicit photo!

She really posted it?

Blake’s eyes

widened in surprise. Without thinking, she gave Sylvara a big thumbs-up. Impressive. Truly impressive. To deal with a stiff, clueless blockhead like Agares, this was exactly the right move.

Flirt hard. No mercy.

“Posted an explicit photo?” Agares’s deep, smooth voice brushed past Sylvara’s ears, making them tingle. Sylvara’s reply came out soft, light, and sweet. “I didn’t.”

Agares exhaled slowly, the breath hot even through the call. He reminded her again, carefully, “Starnet. This morning. 7:58:45 a.m. You posted a photo taken on my bed.”

Sylvara’s jaw dropped.

Wait-what?

The photo she posted this morning counted as an explicit photo?

Well, fine.

According to straight-guy logic, if a picture was taken on a bed, then it was an explicit photo.

By that standard, bargain-bin husband wasn’t wrong.

Blake quickly opened her device and logged onto Starnet.

Sylvara’s morning post was already in the top five trending topics. One tap and the photo filled the screen.

Blake zoomed in. On the messy bed were two bare feet and a pair of calves. On the toes of the left foot, there were faint blue marks.
