She still couldn’t remember where she had seen this person before.

Only after Sylvara reminded her did it click-this was Blake, the general who had just exploded across online headlines.

Blake wasn’t wearing her military uniform today. She had changed into casual clothes. Her hair was tied up in a small bun, and she hadn’t lifted her head. Without seeing her signature violet eyes, it was difficult to recognize her at first glance.

The server immediately became cautious and respectful. “Why don’t you order first? After that, I’ll call my boss.”

Sylvara grabbed the menu and tossed it toward the server. “No need. Just bring one of everything on the menu.”

The server caught the menu in a hurry. “Yes, of course. Please wait a moment.”

With the menu in hand, the server quickly left.

Sylvara scooped up Eggy from her lap and set it on the table. With a light push, she rolled Eggy toward Blake. “Hold this for me. I’m going to the restroom.”

Blake reached out to take it. But before her hand could touch Eggy, Eggy suddenly rolled back the other way, sprang up, and landed on Sylvara’s shoulder. It pressed against her neck and went completely still, playing dead.

Blake was wordless.

No harm done.

The insult, however, was deep and cutting.

“Pfft.”

Sylvara didn’t hold back her laugh. “Daddy, this isn’t really your kid, is it?”

Blake slammed her hand lightly on the table and let out a little snort. She picked up the green vegetable juice in front of her and took a big sip, completely ignoring Sylvara.

After having her filled, Sylvara took Eggy with her and went to the restroom. She had only walked a few steps after coming out when a familiar voice reached her ears. “Uncle Winson, Zephyrion’s genetic breakdown has worsened. His mental energy is unstable, and he was badly injured during military training. You can send him to Central Gene Hospital, but telling me this won’t help. I can’t treat him.”

“Saphron!” Zephyrion’s father, Winson, called him sharply by name. “You may not be able to treat him, but you know a Level-7 Plant Healer.

“Go talk to the healer. Ask that healer to come to Centria. Then bring back more of the fruit he consigned with you. Wouldn’t that cure your cousin?”

Saphron refused firmly. “No, Uncle Winson. I’ve never even met the healer in person. And even if I had, I wouldn’t be able to hire him.”

“As for the fruit he consigned with me, there’s a contract. It’s sold online by instant release. Everyone has an equal chance to get it. I can’t just take it for personal use.”

“Oh, really?” Winson cursed as he threatened him. “You ingrate! Have you forgotten that if I hadn’t taken you and your mother in, you’d have ended up on some abandoned waste planet?”

“If you really plan to abandon your cousin and refuse to bring back that healer here, then don’t blame me for this. Your mother only has her hospital bed at Central Gene Hospital because of the family’s influence. That bed can disappear anytime.”

“Uncle Winson, you-”

“No bed? Fine. That’s not a big deal.” Sylvara stepped out from behind them and calmly picked

from where Winson stopped. She looked at him and said, “You’re the owner of this restaurant, right? Perfect. I would like to talk to you about the patent rights for several dishes— slow-braised pork ribs, honey-glazed BBQ ribs, durian shell chicken, durian stew, durian crepes, and a whole series of others.”

“Ms. Feywin?”

Saphron called out uncertainly.

“It’s me,” Sylvara said as she walked to his side, stepping half a pace ahead of him. “Long time no see, Mr. Gild. What brings you here?”

It really was her.

She wore a red dress, her makeup flawless. She looked innocent and tempting at the same time, bright and striking, like a completely different person.

Saphron hurried to explain, “I was in Fifth Sector yesterday. Someone contacted me and asked me to come to Centria to talk about the durian business, so I came.”

The meeting was supposed to be at Winson’s restaurant.

But before he could even find the person who invited him, Winson stopped him.
