Chapter 301 Inside Endbloom House
Alright.
A governing planet.
Every year, it had to pay nearly 30 billion in taxes to the major powers.

If they didn’t squeeze money out of luxury spending, there was no way they could make that kind of cash.
“So how much are we supposed to spend in this Endblom House?” Sylvara asked as she followed Blake deeper inside. The farther they walked, the louder it became. Cheers, shouting, and pounding music blended together, just like the bars on old Earth before verything fell apart.
Blake shrugged. “The entry fee is 10,000 stellar coins. Plain water starts at 15,000 a glass. Alcohol is 50,000 minimum. If you ask a pretty guy or girl to drink with you, that’s 100,000. If you want to take them out of Endbloom House, that starts at 200,000.”
“You can take them out with you?” Sylvara blurted out in shock. “Is my honey here too?”
Blake stopped at the entrance to the central floor of Endbloom House. She pushed up the sunglasses on her nose and scanned the dark, crowded room. After a moment, she found who she was looking for. “Of course he did,” Blake said calmly. “If he wants into the auction tomorrow, he has to show up tonight. He’s right there.”
The place was dim.
Bodies twisted and swayed everywhere.
Even with her sharp eyesight, Sylvara couldn’t spot him right away.
Blake took off her sunglasses and placed them on Sylvara’s face instead. Then she pointed toward a booth in the northwest corner. “There. See him?”
Holy cow!
Those weren’t ordinary sunglasses.
They were a night-vision scanner, turning darkness into daylight.
Following Blake’s finger, Sylvara saw her bargain-bin husband sitting upright in the booth with the short man beside him. The two of them had ordered nothing but plain water.
“I see him.” Sylvara reached up, wanting to adjust the glasses and look closer.
Her fingers touched air. Blake had already taken them back and put them on herself.
Then she pulled out a peacock-feather mask and gently fixed it over Sylvara’s face. It covered half her cheeks, leaving her light brown eyes exposed. “Come on Blake said lightly. “Daddy’s taking you out for a drink,”
Wearing the mask, Sylvara followed her inside.
Only then did she realize bare skin was the norm here. Exposed chests, open backs, long legs. That was just basic style. More shocking were the beastkin-tails swaying, ears standing tall, shirts barely hanging on.

As someone who liked fluffy things, Sylvara couldn’t help staring at the large, swinging tails. Her fingers twitched. Blake immediately poured cold water on that thought and joked, “When a beastkin’s tail lifts and sways like that, it means they’re flirting and looking for a one-night thing. Control your hands.”
Sylvara, who was itching with temptation, kept her mouth shut.
Alright. These weren’t cute fluffballs.
These were beastkin.
Hormones everywhere and absolutely not innocent.
Sylvara pressed her lips into a small smile and clasped her hands behind her back, afraid that if she didn’t, she might reach out and touch someone’s tail.
Blake noticed the movement and curled her lips slightly then led Sylvara toward where Agares was seated.
Agares was sitting on a half-circle sofa. He and his men took one side, while the seats across from them were empty.
Sylvara thought Blake would choose a nearby seat. Instead, Blake walked straight up to the bargain-bin husband’s spot and spoke loudly in a rough, streetwise tone. “Hey, buddy. I like your seat. I’ll give you 10,000 stellar coins. Move.”
Sylvara, still holding the bastard’s arm, was stunned.
What kind of move was this?
Was this bastard really so confident in her disguise that the dared to challenge Agares face-to-face?
Was she not afraid that Agares might see through it? That she wouldn’t be able to explain herself?
“Sorry, this seat was taken first,” Auren said, standing up. He looked completely calm and polite as he spoke to Blake. “You can sit next door instead. I can give you 20,000 stellar coins. Consider it a drink on us.”
Blake pulled out a bunch of stellar coins from her spatial button and threw it straight at Auren. “10,000 not enough? Fine. 50,000,” she barked. “I’ve got money to burn. Move it. Don’t block my view of the handsome beastkin guys and the pretty merfolk girls.”
Pretty merfolk girls?
Sylvara saw none.
All she saw were beastkin with big, fluffy tails.
That fluffy-tailed beastkin from earlier was definitely feline.
