Sylvara met his gaze head-on, thanked him calmly, and started to sit only to realize the seat in front of her was a two-seater sofa facing directly toward Agares’s single armchair.
Judging from the furniture layout, someone had rearranged the room; the couches in their own 8809 suite hadn’t been set up like this. This setup clearly placed whoever sat in the single armchair in the role of interrogator, and whoever sat on the double sofa as the ones being judged.
Sylvara’s instincts tightened. Just before she sank fully into that couch, she braced a hand on the armrest, shifted sideways, and settled into the adjacent sofa instead.
Blake ended up right on the couch opposite Agares, frowning faintly as she glanced at Sylvara seated to her left. “Sweetheart, you’re not going to sit with your Daddy?”
Sylvara waved him off casually. “His Highness looks like he has something to discuss with you. I’ll just sit over here and listen quietly.”
Blake pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose, dropped her hand, and turned to Agares. “You had something you wanted to ask me?”
Agares flicked a glance at Sylvara, then sat down as well.
Right on cue, Auren set glasses of water in front of everyone.
Agares said, “General Kenobia, please. Have some water wet your throat.”
When Sylvara caught the look in his eyes, her heart did a nervous flip. Her instincts screamed this was bad -but thanks to her battle-hardened mentality, she kept her face smooth as she thanked Auren.
She picked up her glass in perfect sync with Blake, took a sip, and set it down when he did.
Blake looked Agares straight in the eye. “All right, my boy. Whatever you want to know, ask. I will tell you everything I can.”
Agares laced his fingers together on his knees. His back was straight, his presence steady and commanding -a sharp contrast to Blake slouching in his seat. “General Kenobia, Ms. Sylvie is your daughter. You only learned of her existence recently. Does that mean you’ve always been aware that she’s a Level-7 Plant Healer?”
Auren had just been about to sit beside Sylvara. Hearing the Commander’s words, he scooted his backside away in a hurry, staring at her in disbelief.
She was the Level-7 Plant Healer who’d taken the entire Empire’s starnet by storm-this young? It was insane,
“Of course, I know.” Blake said, lying through her teeth with a sunny smile. “Just like you said on the call carlier, I pushed for the joint freshman training across the five military academies for her sake.
“There’s an old saying: if you’re carrying something priceless, you paint a target on your back. My girl is a Level-7 Plant Healer, and she’s young and beautiful on top of that. If word gets out, I worry that certain people with bad intentions will try to lock her up. So, I want her to be stronger. There’s nothing wrong with
that, is there?”
“You’ve done nothing wrong,” Agares said. “Then, General Kenobia, are you also aware that Ms. Sylvie is already registered as someone’s legal spouse?”

Chapter 321 Interrogation
Sylvara was caught off guard.
What on earth was her cheap husband trying to do now?
Was he trying to strip away her disguise-or dig all the way to bedrock?
Why did this straight-laced ironclad man suddenly feel like he was veering into some very strange direction?

“I know, I also know that her useless husband started regretting their marriage barely after they registered and now wants a divorce, while she doesn’t.” Blake’s lips urled as he straightened, fixing Agares with a look while ticking points off on his fingers. “Sweetheart, let me tell you, you have no idea what kind of man that husband of hers is. Stiffer than a steel beam, picky as hell, emotional intelligence in the negatives. No sense of romance, no idea how to flirt, can’t say a sweet word to save his life-and as for coaxing people? Forget it.
“Aside from long legs, a pretty face, eight-pack abs, decent combat skills, passable status, and a bit of money, he’s absolutely useless. Pairing my girl with him is a diamond tossed into the mud.
“So, to sum up-and summarize the summary-I, as her dear Daddy, am extremely, extremely disappointed in her husband. For my girl’s happiness, the sooner she leaves him, the better. She’s this young, this gorgeous; she shouldn’t be a diamond tossed into the mud-or stuck wasting her life on one useless man. No one should hang themselves on a crooked old tree, right?”
Agares tilted his head slightly, his razor-sharp gaze pinning itself to Sylvara.
