Chapter 323 Selling Out?

Lying gremlin!

Agares nodded. “Ms. Sylvie is right. General Kenobia may be a bit cunning sometimes, and a bit smarter than the average person, but he’s an upright man. Since he says it’s not him, then it’s not him.”

Blake didn’t know what to say.

I honestly just want to thank both of them.

Their little back-and-forth is absurdly in sync.

Kids grow up and stop listening to Mom.

And once your girl grows up, she doesn’t stay home either.

One was still secretly clutching her disguise a second ago, and the very next second, she’s joined forces with her husband against me.

The other doesn’t even know what his own wife looks like, yet somehow the two of them are stabbing me in the heart in perfect harmony.

Blake gave up struggling and waved a hand. “Alright, alright, I’m done talking. I’m getting old; I get dizzy at the slightest thing. I need to go lie down in the treatment bay for a while.”

“General Kenobia.” Agares dismissed the optical projection and stopped Blake just as she was about to stand. “I still have one more question I’d like to ask you.”

Blake, who had been about to get up, sat back down. “Ask.”

The moment Sylvara heard there was more, she felt secretly lucky her disguise was still intact-and also suddenly wanted to sit back and watch the drama.

She casually pulled two bunches of grapes from her spatial button, passed one to Auren, and kept one for herself, looking exactly like a bystander munching snacks at a spectacle.

Auren felt like the goddess of luck had slammed right into him today—a Level-7 Plant Healer was not only standing in front of him, she was handing him fruit infused with mental energy as if it didn’t cost a thing.

Agares lowered his gaze to his optical computer, his voice as precise and mechanical as a finely tuned engine, rigid and emotionless. “At 5:30 a.m., I woke my wife. She was still in the palace—in your quarters.

“At 5:32 a.m., my wife asked you to come over and speak with me. You ended the call on the grounds that you weren’t feeling well and needed to lie in the treatment bay. Here is the problem: from Centria planet to Cryo Planet, the fastest route takes six and a half hours, he slowest ten, and even at an unhurried pace, it’s at least seven and a half to eight.

“Yet at 11 a.m., you appeared at the Endbloom House Auction appraisal office, and at 11:40 a.m., you were having lunch with Ms. Sylvie in the Endbloom Restaurant. Please explain how you managed to compress the flight time and get here in under five and a half hours.”

Oh my stars.

His Highness Agares needs a new nickname.

He should be renamed King Agares of Tiny Details.

He was nitpicking things down to the exact minute and second.

Sylvara cupped the grapes in her hands and sank deeper into the couch; her eyes flicked once, a plan forming, and she scooted a little closer to Auren.

Blake was flustered.

A miscalculation.

She’d forgotten about the timing gap.

His bargain-bin daughter had set him up.

Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced over at Sylvara

And what did she see? Sylvara was popping grapes into her mouth while urging Auren to eat his, looking completely carefree as she said, “Chief Dawn, hurry and taste them. I went through a lot of trouble to grow these.”

Auren, overwhelmed by the honor, said, “Ms. Sylvie, just call me Auren. Letting you call me ‘Chief Dawn’ in front of you would be like trying to teach a master how to do her own craft.”

“No, no, no.” Sylvara shot back three quick denials. “You’re way too modest. You’re the Hunting Legion’s chief healer—that’s the real deal. I’ve got nothing but respect for you.”

Auren squirmed under the praise. “I’m not being modest. If you ever came to our Hunting Legion, you’d be the chief healer instead of me. I just don’t know when you might have time to give me some guidance.”

Sylvara replied. “Sure thing. Once I get through this busy stretch and finish all the coursework the teacher gave me, when you’re on leave, we can sit down and compare notes.”

Delighted, Auren jumped to his feet and bent in a full ninety-degree bow to Sylvie. “Thank you, Ms. Sylvie, thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Now hurry up and try the grapes-see how the mental energy feels,” Sylvara urged him back into his seat.

Then, she lifted her head and met Blake’s gaze, putting on her best wide-eyed innocent-actress face. “Daddy, His Highness Agares just asked you a question. You should answer him-why are you staring at

me?”

Blake slowly curled her fingers into her palm.

What a black-hearted little padded jacket-counting on him not to sell her out, lounging there munching snacks as a spectator, and every now and then chiming with his wicked disciple just to rile him up.

This wicked disciple.

This daughter.

Toss them both.

Absolutely toss them both.
