Chapter 324 Guilty Conscience
What did that have to do with her?
She was just here to sit on the sidelines and snack on drama.
She still had the tiniest bit of faith in her bargain-bin dal.

Sylvara straightened her back. “W-Who says I’m nervous? I was just thinking I should add Chief Dawn to my device. That way, if either of us runs into something we don’t understand, we can compare notes.”
Standing in front of Sylvara, Auren’s face flushed with excitement. He stammered, “I can add your optical computer number? Really?”
Sylvara extended the wrist with her device, smiling brightly. “Of course. You’ve got way more field experience as a healer than I do. I just dabble in it as a hobby.”
The esteemed Level-7 Plant Healer was absurdly modest.
Her “hobby” was everyone else’s top tier.
Auren’s hands were trembling; his eyes, his movements he was every inch a little fanboy meeting his idol as he added Sylvara’s contact, soul sparkling, heart cheering.
Agares watched them exchange contact info, eyes narrowing as his hands folded together again. In a low, steady voice, he said, “Since you put it that way, General Kenobia, let me ask directly-my wife, Sylvara Mordrel, is she on Cryo Planet?”
Sylvara’s hand, cupping the grapes, clenched. She immediately looked over at Blake and, piling on with an overdone act, asked, “Daddy, His Highness’s wife is here too? Really, here? She didn’t tell me-why didn’t you tell me either?”
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
This girl.
She was sprinting down the road of self-destruction with no way back.
One day, she was absolutely going to cry without tears and regret it so hard her guts would turn green.
Blake leaned forward slightly toward Agares with a sigh. Baby, your cute, soft little wife is on Cryo Planet. When you called her earlier, we were on the spaceship.
“And don’t bother checking which route we took. I’ll just tell you straight-we came on Red Brows’s bandit ship.
“You know I’ve got some history with that guy. Plus, I’m little short on cash lately and noticed he’s put on some ‘weight. I figured, traveling broadens the mind more than books do-once this auction is over, I’m taking my sweetheart to Red Brows to earn some pocket money. I estimate we’ll clear at least 50 billion stellar coins.”
The heart stuck in Sylvara’s throat instantly dropped back into place.
That cunning bastard, Blake, never let her down.
Spouting nonsense with such a straight face that even she believed it.

She genuinely believed that they’d flown in on a bandit ship.

Agares lifted his head a fraction, index finger resumings tap against the back of his right hand. “General Kenobia, can you tell me which hotel she’s staying at on Cryo Planet? I’d like to see her.”
Blake straightened up and edged back toward Sylvara’s nees, posture both wary and theatrical. “Are you going to see her, or are you going to divorce her?”
Agares tilted his head slightly, gaze steady on Blake and Sylvara, the corner of his mouth curling in a soundless smile. “I’ve been registered with her this long and still don’t know what she looks like. Since we’re finally on the same planet, it’s the perfect time to meet her-to meet the woman who said, ‘While I’m alive, I’m sharing a bed with you. When I’m dead, we’re sharing a grave.”
“Cough, cough, cough!”
Sylvara suddenly hacked out a few coughs; the grapes fell from her hand as she grabbed Blake’s hand with one of her own and pointed to herself with the other.
The grape was stuck.
A grape had lodged squarely in her throat.
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong?” Blake flipped her grip to hold Sylvara’s hand tight.
Sylvara couldn’t squeeze out a single word; her breathing turned labored, her face flushed scarlet as she slapped at the top of her chest.
So, the heavens really wanted her gone-she’d already died once fighting a Zombie King and landed in this world, and now a single grape wanted to finish her off?
What grudge?
What did she ever do?
Was the universe dead set on denying her a peaceful old age?
Did it have to make her die in ridiculous ways?
The look in Agares’s eyes shifted; just as his crossed leg dropped and he started to stand, Auren shouted from beside Sylvara, “General Kenobia, Ms. Sylvie’s choking on a grape—don’t move her!”
Blake instantly let go of her hand. “What, it’s stuck in her throat?”
“Yes, it’s stuck in her throat!” Auren stepped forward toward Sylvara. “Ms. Sylvie, forgive me.”
With that, he braced her jaw with his left hand and brought his right down hard between her shoulder blades. The grape shot out of her throat with that one solid smack.
“Sweetheart, are you alright?” Blake reached out to steady Sylvara and, in passing, gave her a not-so-gentle pinch.
Sylvara’s voice was small and weak. “Daddy, I don’t feel good. My throat hurts.”
Blake’s dad-energy exploded on the spot. She scooped sylvara up in her arms and hurried for the door, barking orders at Auren, “Auren, quick, quick, open the oor-I’m taking my girl to the hospital.”
