In front of outsiders, Sylvara changed how she addressel Agares and spoke to him directly. “Thanks, senior. I’ll trouble you, then!”

He was Daddy’s student, by circumstance.

Calling him “senior” was reasonable.

Agares rubbed his fingertips together. “No need. It’s not bother.”

Sylvara turned to greet the newcomer, Phil, but her eyes caught on the two fan-shaped, furry black ears on the head of the Endbloom House auction house manager standing beside him.

Oh my God!

What is this ridiculously adorable thing?

Noticing her gaze, Phil introduced him. “Ms. Feywin, this is one of our managers, Douglas Boyd, beastkin.”

Beastkin?

Ironfur Beast is a beast too!

Sylvara stared at the two fan-shaped, fuzzy black ears on top of Douglas’ head and blurted out, “Douglas, do you have a brother named Dougie?”

White hair. Fan-shaped, furry black ears.

Oh no!

Could the Dougie from her memories have turned into a person and kept those little black ears?

Douglas froze for a moment. The ears on his head twitched. He extended his hand toward Sylvara. “Hello, Ms. Feywin. I don’t have a brother named Dougie, but according to our family records, one of my ancestors did have that name.”

He really is Dougie’s descendant?

Oh. His ears twitched.

They twitched.

God, God.

Too cute. Way too cute.

I really want to pet them. I really do.

“Girl, he’s shaking your hand.” General Kenobia nudged sylvara. “Why are you spacing out?”

Sylvara snapped back to her senses, forced her gaze downward, refused to look at those unbearably cute ears, took Douglas’ hand, and exchanged a few polite remarks.

Everyone took their seats.

Sylvara deliberately avoided looking at those maddening ears and went straight to business. “I know the seeds you auctioned today are only part of your inventory. You must have more. Name your price.”

Douglas blinked, clearly not expecting her to start there “Phil said that the knife you took and the deal you made with him requires us to give the auction house two…”

“Cherry radishes,” Sylvara said. “The chubby, green-leafed thing about the size of a thumb at the auction. It’s called a cherry radish.”

“Cherry radish. That’s a nice name.” Douglas repeated it thoughtfully, then pulled out a contract from his spatial button. “We haven’t received the cherry radishes yet, and we can’t verify whether the Level Seven Plant Healer is truly close to you.”

“We conduct business with clear terms. Everything documented and concrete. Please review this contract. If there are no issues, sign it first.”

Sylvara slid the contract placed in front of her over to Agares as if it were the most natural thing in the world. “Senior, help me look it over.”

On her right, General Kenobia was speechless.

What, was he invisible?

Shouldn’t she hand it to Daddy first?

Agares’ expression was calm, but his eyes were sharp and cold. He scanned the contract from start to finish and spoke in a low, steady voice. “Mr. Douglas, both parties are exchanging two cherry radishes grown by a Level Seven Plant Healer for a knife.

“As for the transaction itself, we have no objections. However, you are asking the Level-7 Plant Healer, ma’am, to record a planting video as proof of identity. That condition is unacceptable.”

Douglas responded, “Without video proof, how can we confirm the cherry radishes were grown by a Level-7 Plant Healer?

“At the auction stand, Ms. Feywin and Phil previously agreed to use two cherry radishes personally planted by the Level-7 Plant Healer, ma’am, in exchange. Only then did Phil agree to barter the ancient Earth Blue Star goddess-of-war blade to her.”

Agares placed the contract on the table, pressed it flat, and pushed it toward the center. “The Level-7 Plant Healer, ma’am, has a classified identity. Even if she records a video, she will not show her face. How would you be certain it is her?”
