Douglas stiffened at the impact, the two fan-shaped black cars hidden in his white hair twitching. “Sir, don’t you think you’re pushing us too far? A verbal agreement is still an agreement.
“Ms. Feywin said those cherry radishes were grown by the Level Seven Plant Healer, ma’am. Without a video, how can we be sure the cherry radishes were not produced by other methods?”
Agares raised his eyelids. His dark eyes were deep and ancient, like an old well. He replied coolly, “Mr. Douglas, if cherry radishes could truly be cultivated by other means, would you still be sitting here. negotiating?”
Douglas was speechless.
Phil tugged at Douglas beneath the table, silently warning him not to offend them. They not only knew the Level-7 Plant Healer, ma’am, they were clearly not people to trifle with.
Agares’ long, distinct fingers tapped lightly on the table as he took control of the discussion. “Ms. Feywin’s knife was rusted beyond recognition and stuck in that stone. No one could pull it out. I’ll set the reserve price at seven hundred million.”
Sylvara leaned closer and whispered, “Reserve price of seven hundred million, with a twenty percent discount.”
“Understood.” The corner of Agares’ mouth lifted slightly, almost imperceptibly. His voice lowered as he continued, “Reserve price at seven hundred million. If no one can draw it out, I’ll set the final price at one billion. With a twenty percent discount, that comes to eight hundred million. Since two cherry radishes are not enough to conclude the deal, we will pay eight hundred million in full. Immediate payment. No shortfall.”
“Sir, that isn’t what we meant,” Phil hurried to explain. “That was my fault. I failed to explain it clearly to Mr. Douglas. Our auction house trusts Ms. Feywin. We will revise the agreement.”
He stood up to retrieve the contract from the table.
But the instant his hand touched the paper…
Agares brought his hand down sharply, pinning Phil’s hand in place. “Mr. Phil, Endbloom House has a history spanning a thousand years. In recent times, it has been jointly managed by three factions: beastkin, merfolk, and the Troya Empire.
“If I recall correctly, Endbloom House has a written regulation with legal authority stating that whoever comes to negotiate represents their faction in full.
“We are clearly representatives of the Troya Empire. Yet you sent a beastkin representative to receive us. That is disrespectful. We are within our rights to invoke mperial law against you for price manipulation, breach of contract, and bad faith negotiations.
“I recorded everything said here. I can submit it to the court as evidence, Mr. Douglas, would you like to hear it?” Agares tilted his wrist, revealing the recording device for Douglas to see.
They could actually take this to court?
Her bargain-bin husband had just shattered Sylvara’s understanding of the world yet again.
Damn, he was sharp.

“Daddy!” Sylvara leaned toward Agares, her body instinctively tilting toward Blake. “I… I feel a little cold.”
Blake did not catch her meaning. “The temperature is set to seventy. Want me to have them turn it up?”
Sylvara shook her head rapidly. “No, no need…”
Her voice trailed off abruptly. Her gaze snapped firmly onto Douglas.
His small ears twitched again.
It was so cute.
As a pure-blood native of ancient Earth’s Hesperia, she had absolutely no resistance to that national treasure of a feature, those round, fluffy ears.
She really wanted to touch them.
Douglas’ ears flicked again. He had hit a dead end, and his attempt to raise the price had completely failed.
He stood and bowed deeply to Sylvara and the others, his tone sincere. “I apologize. I judged you with the narrow mind of a petty man judging true gentlemen. Please forgive me.”
Soft white hair.
A pair of black, fluffy, fan-shaped ears nestled within it.
When he bent at the waist, the backs of those ears came into view, with a few unruly strands at the tips that were slightly too long.
Sylvara was so captivated that she completely lost focus her eyes glued to those fuzzy black ears as she forgot all about the negotiation. “It’s fine, it’s fine, it’s find Can I touch your ears?”
Douglas snapped his head up, his face flushing red. He ammered, “Y-you want to touch my ears?”
He blushed.
He really blushed.
Too cute.
Sylvara’s eyes shone brightly. “I want to touch your cars Can I?”
Oh my God.
A panda folk.
