Chapter 377 Don’t Cry

That one rub made the burning in Sylvara’s eyes go from bad to worse, making her sniffle as she couldn’t open her eyes at all. Tears streaming down her face, completely blurring her vision.
With his mental energy, Agares had already sent people flying. Now, he kicked them aside as he advanced, his presence radiating a pressure so overwhelming it felt like a boulder crushing their chests. They struggled
but could not rise.
He approached Sylvara, his dark eyes black as night, gazing at her tear-streaked face, smeared like a messy watercolor painting. Slowly, he reached out his hand, cupping the back of her head and pulling her toward him. His body went rigid, his voice hoarse with a deadly edge as he said, “Don’t be afraid. Don’t cry. Not a single one of them is getting away.”
Caught off guard by Agares pulling her into his embrace Sylvara’s nose bumped into his solid chest, making her let out a muffled groan of pain.
Agares’s hand at the back of her head suddenly tightened, pressing her face even closer against his chest. His body went stiff as a robot, and the invisible mental energy he radiated grew even colder.
The bandits lying on the ground, unable to rise, suffered terribly under the oppression of his mental energy, wishing they could kneel down and beg for mercy.
Sylvara felt more pressure on the back of her head as her entire face ended up buried in her bargain-bin husband’s pecs.
She reached up and tugged at Agares’s clothes, her voice muffled as she said, “Your Highness, I can’t breathe.”
Great pecs, she hadn’t even gotten to feel them yet.
But she didn’t want to be smothered to death.
Well, most importantly, she hadn’t made her money yet
The hand Agares had been holding against the back of her head suddenly released. His stiff body quickly stepped back to put distance between them, his ears turning so red they looked like they might start dripping blood. “Sorry.”
Sylvara sniffled and used her hand to wipe her tears, and with that wipe…
Damn it!
She’d screwed up again.
It was still the hand covered in pepper that she’d wiped cross her eyes, making the tears pour out even more, impossible to stop.
Agares watched her tears flowing continuously, his brows knitting tightly together as he pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and hesitantly held it out to her. “You… don’t cry. It’s okay now.”
Sylvara let out a sobbing hiccup, snatched the handkerchief Agares offered, and pressed it over her eyes, explaining, “I’m not crying, Your Highness. You’ve got it wrong. The 20 billion…”
That cursed mutated pepper was killing her.

Chapter 377 Don’t Cry
Not only was it costing her money-making time, it was so making her bargain-bin husband misunderstand.
What had her bargain-bin husband just said?
Told her not to cry?
Was he trying to comfort her?
Had her bargain-bin husband learned something new?
Was he not so blunt anymore?
Why did she find that so hard to believe?

“The 20 billion is yours. No one’s taking it from you,” Agares assured her in a hoarse, low voice. “And that’s just the start. With 300 prisoners, the Troya Empire pays the individual bounties-weighted by the severity of the crimes-plus a major assistance bonus for the scale of the capture.”
With the handkerchief covering her closed eyes, she felt much better. Sylvara said in a stuffy, nasal voice, “There aren’t 300 people. Including the 20 billion guy, there are only 125 people in total.”
Agares watched as she covered her eyes completely with the handkerchief and took a small step forward, his voice cold and hoarse. “Only 125 people, not 300?”
“No, I checked and there are only 125.”
“Sweetheart, what happened to you?” Blake kicked someone flying with one foot and darted over to Sylvara like a shadow. “Did the 20 billion guy hurt your eyes?”
That didn’t make sense.
With her skills, forget these hundred or so people here. She could take down a thousand more.
How could she have gotten her eyes injured?
“No…”
“She’s crying. You should take her and leave first,” Agares stiffly interrupted Sylvara’s words, instructing General Kenobia. “You should comfort her…”
Wow!
The heartless ingrate was crying?
Should I record this to use as blackmail material, to tease her out later?
Blake calculated in her mind, then unconsciously blurted out, “You want me to comfort her? Baby, don’t tell me you made her cry.”
The furrow in Agares’s brow deepened a bit more. His elids lowered as he glanced at the bandits lying on the ground. Just as he was about to speak…
An external voice cut in. “Attention spaceship ahead, attention spaceship ahead. This is the Roseblade Legion patrol warship of the Troyan Empire conducting routine inspection. Please open your bay doors, please open your bay doors. Thank you for your cooperation, thank you for your cooperation.”
