Take Me Once, I'll Bleed You Twice novel Chapter 149

That damnable human was more trouble than he’d anticipated. The first time he’d laid eyes on Beatrice, Donovan had only been able to see her as prey; soft, weak, human. Then she’d opened her mouth and ruined that image. Human she may be, but she was not one to be taken lightly.

If he was being honest, he saw exactly why the Moon Goddess had chosen her for Alpha Hendricks. The pup wasn’t a good fit for a leadership role but there

was none who could take his place. Not without killing him. Sure, he had Alpha blood and was more than dominant enough to hold the position, but he was

weak willed and failed to take into account a number of things when making decisions.

Immature. The kid was immature. The previous Bluemoon Alpha had died not long after Hendricks had gotten his wolf, forcing him to inherit the pack before he’d been properly trained; before he’d been ready. Seems he hadn’t grown much in that time, to the point Donovan had been glad to learn his

daughter wasn’t Hendricksfated mate.

With Hendricksmate being human, even if Beatrice was considered a better fit for the role of Alpha, he would be able to retain his position without issue not that a woman could become Alpha if she accepted the bond. She would have forced him to mature, forced him to work on his short comings until he could, manage his responsibilities like a proper Alpha, if only to make her happy.

The perfect fated pair.

Donovan let out a sigh as he leaned back in his chair. Running a hand over his face, he tried to think of a way out of the mess he found himself in.

He’d always thought the Bluemoon pack was a mess. Now he had to accept that his pack, too, had its fair share of issues.

Like how his Beta had gone behind his back to visit the Master vampire alongside the human. Without permission. Even though Donovan had specifically stated they were staying out of the matter after the fiasco the Bluemoon pack had made at Kaleidoscop. It would do no good to stick their noses in another pack’s business any more and yet they’d gone and donethis.

Seems Jessie, Donovan’s administrative assistant and Beta Phillipsdaughter, had conspired with her father to keep Beatrice’s call a secret the pack. This allowed the Beta to get close to the human and fuck everything up. Again.

for the good of

As an Alpha, Donovan wasn’t as controlcentric as others in his position. He, in fact, didnwant to deal with the tedium of leading a pack. It was only because it was expected of him that he took on the role, did the job day in and day out. That was his purpose, his reason for existing. His mate and daughter

as without them bis world would be he would do anything to give them the best life possible were the two things that made any of it worthwhile nothing but shades of grey.

It didn’t excuse him for shirking his duties as Alpha. It was his responsibility to keep his pack in line. The fact that his very own Beta had disobeyed a direct order told the world Donovan was failing. He could no longer look down his nose at Hendricks, no matter how much he might want to.

Not only had Beta Phillips disobeyed a direct order, but he’d taken a dozen wolves with him and not a single one had returned alive. Why? Because they’d been stupid enough to take on The Riaghaire. They’d thought having the Master vampire on their side would give them an edge against the boogeyman only to lose their lives in the process.

Had none of them learned anything from Bluemoon’s attempt on retrieving the human from Kaleidoscope and the consequences that came from it?

Idiots, Morons. Fools.

Sure, Donovan was a bit of a lazy Alpha but he still did his job. He just didn’t go above and beyond. Or, he hadn’t. Now, though, to clean up this clusterfuck

La purs, he would need to go all out. Somehow.

Master Edyth had been a nuisance for decades and Donovan would have gladly backed Beatrice up against the bloodsucker, if only to get the jump on the bitch. For some asinine reason, Beta Phillips had decided that, instead of getting rid of the real problem, it was better to get a few brownie points with a pack favoured by the Council of Elders.
