“I never agreed to this,” the visiting Alpha snapped.
“None of us agreed to any of this,” Beatrice shouted. In a normal voice, she continued. “Look, I don’t have much time left and I’d rather not die with all
sorts of questions rattling around my head, okay? So if you’d be so kind as to answer…?”
Donovan scowled, clearly not liking the fact she was being difficult, Again. “They found Riaghaire. Yesterday.”
Beatrice felt a sudden pain in her chest. They found him. They found him… alive? Dead-dead? “How’s he doing?,” she managed to squeeze out, finding it
difficult to breathe as she waited for the answer.
“He’s still kicking.” Donovan assured her. “He’s definitely pissed off.”
Relief flooded Beatrice as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. He was alive. Ríaghaire was alive. Thank god. And he was pissed. She opened her eyes
and glanced at Tweedledick, who was looking rather pale.
“The Riaghaire is still alive?,” the Beta whispered, fear in his voice.
“Aye. I’d advise you to book it now, while you still can, but we both know that isn’t going to happen.”
“Why hasn’t he attacked yet?” Tweedledick asked, voice tight as he looked from Donovan to Beatrice and back again. “I need to warn-”
“Nope,” Beatrice told him, tone firm. “Remember our deal
you want the name, don’t you?”
“How can you expect me to stay quiet?! The safety of my pack is at stake!,” he growled, eyes shifting to gold.
Beatrice finally pushed herself to her feet and moved closer to the front of her cell. “Because you should have known it all along.”
“What?”
Beatrice rolled her eyes. “You were well aware that Riaghaire took up the role as my bodyguard. Did you not stop to think that maybe, just maybe, he would retaliate if you managed to grab me? Seriously?” She looked over at Donovan. “I’m not missing something, right? He’s being stupid.”
Donovan grunted a little, exchanging a look with the Viking. “I will admit that I was stupid to involve myself in this situation. I should have dropped it the moment I left Kaleidoscope after our first meeting and yet here I am. I can only imagine how the Beta feels.”

“See? He basically agrees,” she nodded, looking back at Tweedledick, whose face was now flush with anger. Or frustration. She didn’t care which. “You’re an idiot. Your Alphass is an idiot. You all knew this would happen. You had him locked up for over eighty years, for fuck’s sake. You’re lucky he didn’t massacre your pack weeks ago. Actually, you should thank me for that. if not for me, you’d already be nothing more than headless corpses.”
“If not for you, he’d have never escaped!”
“If not for you kidnapping me, I’d have never met him. I’ve got the rest of my life to burn, dicks for brains, so keep trying to win. Come on. I’m waiting.”
Tweedledick snapped his mouth shut but it was obvious he was still screaming at her in his head.
“What is with the name calling?” The Viking’s voice was gruff and startled Beatrice. She’d begun to think the guy couldn’t talk, as he hadn’t made so much as a peep this entire time.

Chapter 161
Leie resple who piss me off fun nicknames,” Beatrice explained. “It helps me vent and pisses them off in return. Win win.”
Viking wolf nodded. Guess he didn’t have anything else to say. Good.
“So. Alphass Donovan, are you saying this letter is basically Riaghaire threatening a massacre if I’m executed?” Beatrice inquired as she looked over at the Alpha.
Donovan let out an exasperated sigh this guy sighed a lot and ran a hand over his face. “The signature is the one sending the message. The Riaghaire… and a few others… will be the ones to make it a reality if you die.”
