Chapter 164

She walked to the stage and came to stop instructed to by Beta Berisdict. Donovan was a little surprised she’d listened to the wolf Then again, she was surrounded by the Bluemoon pack if she disrespected the Beta or Councii it was likety she would be pumped by every wolf present

With her back to the crowd, Donovan wondered if Beatrice felt vulnerable to attack. It was the whole point of how things were set up: they wanted the guilty party to feel small, weak, vulnerable, and at the mercy of the Council. Something told him this wouldn’t be the case with the human she was tor stubborn to let something so trivial affect her to any degree.

“Beatrice Elaine Conrad,” Elder Briarwood began, voice carrying to those all the way in the back. “You have been found guilty of denying the mate bond with your fated mate, Alpha Hendricks Bluemoon. As such, we have agreed to sever the bond between you both in the only way that promises the highest probability for the Alpha to find a second chance mate; your execution.”

“We do have some questions left unanswered,” Elder Ashcliff continued. “If you agree to be forthcoming with the answers, we will grant you a swift and painless death.”

“I still have three of my five questions to ask,” Beatrice reminded them, sounding almost bored. “Who gets to go first, Elder Asscliff?”

A heated whisper ran through the crowd when people realized she’d purposefully said the Eider’s name wrong. The man in question flushed with anger but otherwise showed no outward reaction. “How do you know the name Noble Ashcliff?”

Beatrice cocked her head to one side and Donovan could picture the smirk on her damn, face as she spoke. “How do I know the name of your firstborn son? That’s a good question. But my question is, why did you lie and say he was dead when he is, in fact, alive?”

The whisper grew to a murmur as the crowd hadn’t been expecting drama of this calibre. They were used to stoicism, tears, begging, pleading, an escape attempt, a fight… not this. What was Beatrice thinking?

“You dare attempt to smear my name?,” Elder Ashcliff snarled. “To spread lies? My son is dead, human.”

“Okay, fine, don’t answer my question,” Beatrice sighed, ignoring the irate Elder as she shifted her weight from foot to foot. “My next question is, have voe told the pack about the letter you received and how, if you take my life, all those involved – whether active or passive – will be forced to pay the price? That price being equal to what’s done to me; meaning you’re sacrificing the lives of everyone present tonight if you choose to take mine.”

“Enough,” Elder Briarwood snapped as the crowd’s murmuring grew louder. “Stop this. You hope to sow seeds of doubt and discord to save your ble but th is nothing more than a pathetic, last ditch effort on your part. We will not be fooled by your lies.”

“So you weren’t shown a letter, signed by a concerned someone, who very clearly warned you that ending my life would be

present?”

detrimental to every you!

“Such a letter was shown to us,” Elder Blazethorn spoke up before Briarwood was able to speak. “However we have deemed it to the bothing out that as attempt to save your life. The threat is without merit.”

“You’re wrong.” Alpha Donovan found himself saying in a loud voice. Ah, fuck He’d meant to keep his mouth shut What in bell was Mr bus is very real.”

Everyone had their eyes trained on him now but that didn’t bother the Alpha It was having the full attention of the council of tires that aadetis ha stand on end.

“And you know this how, Alpha Donovan Mchezaji? Are you saying you are the author of the letter and will week retribution for the human should harm befall her?,” Elder Ashcliff asked, a smirk on his face.
